I'm new to grading with resolve and editing with r3ds so not sure which end of it I'm getting wrong!

I've been editing in fpcx exporting a xml, importing it into davinci, grading and then rendering out with the 'Final Cut Pro XML roundtrip' option.

When I reimport to FCPX (for final tweaks etc.) things go wrong. If the footage was shot in 5k it comes back in windowed. If it was shot in 6k it comes back in as 720 footage.

Is there an easy way to go back and forth from Final Cut to Davinci without having these problems?

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Cheers

Double check your render settings in Resolve and your project settings in FCPX. Note that what you see in FCPX when importing XML from Resolve is a bunch of compound clips. Each of which contains your rendered footage. The roundtrip was always a bit jerky...

When i bring it back into FCP X it creates a new event and in there is the project file and the renders all in 1080 as I exported them. But in the timeline it says the clips originally shot at 5k are 5k (and it windows them) and the 6k footage it says is at 720 and 60 fps (should be at 23.98)...

I can replace all the clips in the timeline with the ones from the event folder which seems to work but its a bit long winded and it'll probably cause problems down the line! Any ideas!? Thanks!
