  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FCP to DaVinci (EDL & R3D)

@OlaHaldor: I´m sure, we do it all the time. Cut with _M proxies in FCP, export EDL,
import into media Pool using "Add Folder and Subfolders based on EDL", and than conform to the EDL. In the Conifg menue i´ve "Assist using reel numbers" turned off, don´t know if that makes any difference.
This replaces _M proxies with the R3D´s and also transcoded Offlines with R3D if i point to the folder in the Media pool where the orig. R3D´s are.

hope this helps

Hi everyone! I don't know if this is hijicking a thread, but I have a question about this workflow.

I will be shooting on Epic, and it doesn't create proxies on camera, so I will be transcoding every clip to Prores 1080p for offline editing, just like I would use a M proxy on the Red Mx footage.

So, in theory the rest of the workflow should be the same as te one listed here? First time using Resolve to grade, neither FCP or Color support Epic footage.

Thanks in advanced.

Just have the proper setting on FC or Premiere, so we never need to render during the edit; only render at the final output stage.

What setting would that be? I've never got files to play in real time on a timeline using the proxies. I hate Transcoding but when Clients are sitting behind me, it must be pretty decent playback or i have to explain.

Just set the system to accept the first setting of the first file to be dropped into the timeline. So, whenever you start a new sequence and you place any clip (_M in our case), it will ask you if you want to set the timeline setting based on such clip, and you click "Yes". Now, do not start to place WS mattes, etc. Otherwise, you need to render EVERY time you do a small change...
