Hi there,

I exportet an xml from Filmscribe with the settings given in Avids red section. I transformed it with the FS_RedCine_318.xsl. Now I get an "failed to load construct" error - strange thing, I tested that before I started editing? I did load all the clips first.

Is this xml correct? I miss all the paths in there:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?><Library name="b_im_g_36">
<resolution>4096,2048</resolution><fps> 25.000 </fps><ShotList>
<Slot name="">
<Clip name="">
<reel_id>"A038"</reel_id>
<length> 979 </length>
<media_length> 979 </media_length></Clip></Slot>
<Slot name="">
<Clip name="">
<reel_id>"A039"</reel_id>
<length> 198 </length>
<media_length> 198 </media_length></Clip></Slot>
<Slot name="">
<Clip name="">
<reel_id>"A051"</reel_id>
<length> 180 </length>
<media_length> 180 </media_length></Clip></Slot>

...goes on like this...

I imported the clips to avid via redcine -> xls transform to ale.

Oddly, in the xml from Filmscribe much more detail is given. I attached that Filmscribe xml to the post.

Can anyone give me a hint how to get Redcine to load this?

(I am on PC, so no monkey extract for me :()

Thanks,

Thomas

Are you useing REDcine v3.18? There are two XSL files depending on which version of REDcine is being used.

Found a solution, or rather the key to the problem: Filmscribe is unable to correctly handle subclips, oh my! I matchframed the first few of my edits and that makes it work ... Anyone knows how to match-frame a whole sequence now? :(

OK, got the clips in Redcine now. But what about the ORDER?
They are arranged at random, what a great thing!
I should have invested less time in editing then...

:head_explode::head_explode::head_explode:

What is it now that I am doing wrong?

:yikes:

Are they really in a random order, or are they in the shooting order?

Yes probably shooting order but nonetheless - I was under the impression REDcine could online my edit into one final dpx sequence - I suppose now thats impossible. I had to make an aaf to FCP then Automatic-Duck-export it to Crimson then try to get Baselight to recognize the resulting files: Anyone notes the irony in the word "workFLOW"? Luckily I got all that as a favour... If the producers of this movie would have had to pay for it (as well as the two weeks converting r3d to mxf) and known about the cost in advance, they may not have chosen red.

Yes I had the correct XSL for REDcine 3.18.

The subclip issue was an old one. What version of Media Composer are you using?

Michael

Also, the SCAN list, is a pull list of all elements used in the timeline. The EDL, or Assemble XML list is the one that would be used for acrual conform. Since sequences can get quite complex with layers, motion FX, etc - the pull list is an abstraction of just the original source elements which get pointed to by the conform system.

Michael

Also, did you move the R3D files from the original XML export wherre the path would have changed?

Michael

Did the R3D files move from when the ALE was created to when you loaded the pull list back into REDcine?

Michael

They are on an external drive, maybe the drive letter changed, but I´m not sure... Is that a factor for the export order?
