  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

F&V R-300 LED Ring Light

Anyone have an R3D they could post? I'm curious about how much green is in this unit and what it's actual color temp is.

This looks mighty tempting. Any of you guys that have one, can you post a still or two of a shot taken using it?

Would love to see what it does to eye reflections as well.

Here a shot by Janosch Simon www.janoschsimon.de using the F&V R-300.

Nice

We will prepare some R3Ds soon using the R-300, K4000 and our other lights.

Mark can we purchase the 15mm bracket separately?

Cant seem to find that on the site.

I figured Id wait and test the first one I ordered then order the next with that bracket.

But I wouldnt mind that option now.

Yes, the 15mm adapter bracket will be available separately soon. At the moment we wait for the first shipment of brackets to fulfill the brackets that were included with the kits.

Thanks Ryan, my Ring Light will be delivered soon :)

received my Ring Light.

great mfg, very cool design.

just cant find any power lying around studio and home :)

using Sony's at the moment but need to get the d-tap cable soon.

going to get two more to complete my kit.

you def need a rotating head of some sort for sticks.

Placed an order based on the reviews and recommendations in this thread. Can anyone recommend a mounting option to use their 15mm rod support with my preferred 19mm configuration? Thank you.

Yes, that's no problem, as Martin worte already the R-300 can take a voltage around 5.8 to 16.8V (actually even a bit more but we play save with the upper range value) and we also offer a D-tap Male to DCΦ2.5 connector cable in our EU store
http://www.fvlight.eu/products/cables/d-tap-male-to-dc-2-5-connector.html

In the F&V US store it will be added soon also.

When will this available on US stores?

I tried over a dozen power options at work and home and found none that would fit that R-300.

I would like that D-tap option.

It looks very nice, but is it really strong enough? It's so small.
I really like that it has a ring shape in it, really makes nice reflections in the eyes.
Maybe it would work good together with a bigger panel with maybe 600 leds in them to get more even light from the side. What do you guys plan on using it for.
Also where do you guys think it would be best. Sitting on the Red, or maybe on a tripod?

Cheers
/Andreas

For the price and size Im impressed at what it can do as a standalone.

I cant wait to get two more.

How would this work with an O-Box?

Does it come with an A/C power supply?

If not, I gather I might be able to use any wall-wart that supplies 5.8 - 16.8V (assuming the connectors of most wall units adhere to some kind of standard)?

Andreas - don't know if you've seen these video showing the ring-light?

Maybe 3 of these might be within budget? Could be useful as they can run off the small Sony batteries.

I don't know what you're planning... but if your interviews are med/CU, you could easily get away with these and have nice dark backgrounds... or use some daylight or one of these fro a bit of subtle light in the bckg (I presume teh fall off will be pretty quick - so they won't illuminate a large area) really depends on what you're looking for.

Why not get in touch with them and see if they'll cut you a deal? Worth a shot, if the project is interesting for them - and you might get something out of it too :)

Waiting of the D-Tap option to show up on US website.

Using a Sony at the moment.

HI again,

Bought the light and love it, but just gone to purchase the d-tap power adapter and the postage for the tiny little cable is almost as much as the cost of the cable itself at €15.90. Is this something you can sort on the site?

Hi Ben,

thanks for your nice words regarding the R-300 ring light.

Shipping costs are not an easy topic. We try to offer reliable and cheap shipping but sometimes especially with low value items the current shipping options are not ideal and the costs can differ a lot from country to country. We work on it.

If you are fine with a bit longer transit time and no tracking we can offer you a shipping solution around 4€ for the d-tap cable by standard mail.

Just write us a short message to support@fvlight.eu

Thanks and all the best,
Mark
