  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Extreme Purple Fringing on Dragon

I don't know man, I think it might be your lens. Or your camera. But definitely not THE camera. Here's a couple interviews I just shot where the client liked the blown-out BG (I did too), and one shot I took scouting. No sign of purple fringing. Epic Dragon, Standard OLPF. The first two were shot on Zeiss Otus's, but the last was on a Canon 17-55/2.8 -- by no means an elite lens.

I noticed an extreme amount of purple fringing that is not present in any of the MX footage

Can you test out the new REDWideGamutRGB color space in build 42 (Beta) of RCX-P to see if this problem is gone?

You will need to go to Edit->Preferences and enable Advanced controls to see it in the Color Space list. It will be at the bottom of the list.

has anyone found a solution to this been testing in build 50 and it does not seem improved but not sure if i'm doing anything wrong

Latest build of RCXP and RWGRGB should take care of it. Or you got another problem.

i must be doing something wrong and i know this is extreme but look at the mesh

That Canon 50 1.4 on a 5Dmkii would do the same exact thing. It's just a booger for CA. The hi-fi stereo analogy above was spot on. People think that getting the fanciest equipment will make everything better but oftentimes it just shines a spotlight on the weak points in your system.
