Realistically I would expect an extended waranty to cost about 20% a year of cost. Comsumer goods are often more than that.

i have insurance that covers any electronic damage and much more of my cameras.

just a question of how much you want to pay for it. same with warranty stuff:waaa:

In telecom it is 8% to 13% and it icludes VIP tech support.

Worst case scenario is having to replace the body. One customer did rent out their camera and the person renting the camera damaged it so badly, it had to be replaced. Hint: When trying to mount a camera on a custom rig, don't drill random holes in the RED ONE to create additional mounting holes.

I think being able to send a R1 in for repair or service, without having to deal with the expense and hassle of euro->us->euro shipping costs and paper work, is fantastic news..

I'm in for extended warranty too, but at $1k for the 2 years, I think some nice insurance could be bought for that which would cover a lot of gear besides the RED. but still.. I'm interested.

Yes. This would be good to know, as the year is almost up (and what a year it has been) ... you guys have been so wonderful with me, I'd hate to let that go after such a short time. I hope you'll consider extending the warranty for some reasonable fee.

After your warranty expires, we will offer reasonable repair charges (parts and labor) and any issues can be handled on a case-by-case basis.
