Here are some screen grabs from the rushes of EXPOSED, shot last weekend in the rainforest on Scarlet #685 ('Misty') with Nikon AF primes and a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 zoom. A big thank you to my camera team, Stefan Raabe and Jordan Dautovic, and also to Harry from Reduser for lending me his side handle and Sony V-mount battery plate. I can't belive it but with a day to go before the shoot and still no power solution, I posted a shout out for help on this forum and Harry answered. What a legend! Now I have a new Scarlet blood brother.

Field notes:

In the field, I found my Redvolts weren't very useful. They only lasted about 20-odd minutes. I'm thinking of keeping two so I can always have one in the side handle for hot swapping Sony V-mount batteries and selling the other two. Harry's Brook V-mount plate was awesome and really well built. I'm going to get one or the Wooden Camera version. I took up 3 x 64GB cards but would have liked to have 4 or 5. I've just switched from Final Cut Pro to Premiere. It was great to get back to our accommodation at the end of the day and just pull the footage up on a Premiere timeline and view it straight away without any transcoding. I was mourning the demise of FCP but no more, especially as I could just switch to an FCP keyboard layout and find myself almost instantly on familiar turf. I would have liked to shoot this one at 2.4:1 matte on spherical lenses but I couldn't get wide enough lenses in time. I'm very keen to see how that looks (cropping in from a 4k 1.9:1 frame).

Looks good James. Looking forward to seeing more :)

I use a 3600x1500 frame when shooting for a 2.40:1 finish. Gives you a lot of room to play with in post. I got the idea from an article on Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Apparently that's how they shot as well.

Wow, that looks very nice!

Thanks Emil and Robert. I appreciate it. Matt, my scarlet brother, I haven't worked out how to export stills at full res from Redcine X yet but I'll give it a crack :)

James, is there any rough guess of when we may be able to see more? Looks to be an interesting story.

Sure and thanks for your interest. We are aiming to have the rough cut finished this week. There's a lot of sound design but hopefully most of the sound elements we captured during the shoot. We should have it complete by the end of this month. If you can PM me your email I'll keep you updated. I may even be able to upload a teaser next week and some more high res stills in the next few days.

PM sent, can't wait to see more. Thanks!

Thanks James, happy to help out.

Looking forward to seeing it, those frame grabs look stunning. Great field notes too.

I've had a huge smile on my face since ours (#767) arrived yesterday afternoon.

This is one truly amazing camera.

Hopefully we can to join (Scarlet) forces soon!
