Here are some screen grabs from the rushes of EXPOSED, shot last weekend in the rainforest on Scarlet #685 ('Misty') with Nikon AF primes and a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 zoom. A big thank you to my camera team, Stefan Raabe and Jordan Dautovic, and also to Harry from Reduser for lending me his side handle and Sony V-mount battery plate. I can't belive it but with a day to go before the shoot and still no power solution, I posted a shout out for help on this forum and Harry answered. What a legend! Now I have a new Scarlet blood brother.
Field notes:
In the field, I found my Redvolts weren't very useful. They only lasted about 20-odd minutes. I'm thinking of keeping two so I can always have one in the side handle for hot swapping Sony V-mount batteries and selling the other two. Harry's Brook V-mount plate was awesome and really well built. I'm going to get one or the Wooden Camera version. I took up 3 x 64GB cards but would have liked to have 4 or 5. I've just switched from Final Cut Pro to Premiere. It was great to get back to our accommodation at the end of the day and just pull the footage up on a Premiere timeline and view it straight away without any transcoding. I was mourning the demise of FCP but no more, especially as I could just switch to an FCP keyboard layout and find myself almost instantly on familiar turf. I would have liked to shoot this one at 2.4:1 matte on spherical lenses but I couldn't get wide enough lenses in time. I'm very keen to see how that looks (cropping in from a 4k 1.9:1 frame).
