Hey guys I'm looking at different EVF options and wondering what makes the most sense when keeping the price in mind.

How huge of a difference is the new RED DSMC2 EVF versus the previous RED DSMC OLED EVF? The price difference between the new EVF vs a used OLED EVF is about 3k which is huge. I'm also aware of the BMC x Wooden and the Zacuto EVF's, but then all you get is overlay through the SDI cable.

Any thoughts on the above is appreciated! Thanks

Hi I brought a 2nd hand Bomb OLED from Adorama with a Red Spinner (mounting bracket) for around $1300 USD, which seems to me to be good value compared to a new OLED of any brand. I thought it would be preferable to use the side pogo with a lemo adaptor A to keep cables tidy and my SDI out free for a client monitor (or focus puller monitor). If you use Blackmagic EVF you would tie up your SDI out as I don't think it has a pass through??? - I may be wrong. I am sorry I cannot offer a comparison to any other EVF's as my Raven has not turned up yet.
cheers

Have you gotten the chance to play around with the EVF yet?

No, other than a very quick check on a friends Epic to make sure it works, I have not used it. Not having a Red camera, I have to wait patiently for my Raven.
The Zacauto Eye was very tempting to me - small and light, but again it will tie up your SDI with no pass through.
The Zacauto Gratical has SDI pass through but I worried about the weight and size and having separate batteries to charge.
If you have other camera brands that you regularly use, then the Zacauto, Blackmagic or Small HD with EVF attachment would be a good option, as far as I understand the Red Bomb OLED can only be used on a Red.
I went with the RED Bomb OLED as a few other users recommended it and it will suit my set up.

Honestly if you haven't looked through the weapon evf you should. The picture is great. If you have the cash it is definitely the most streamlined setup. I thought ALL the other red EVF's sucked until this one.
