Hi,

i got two adapter cables made to connect an XLR mic to the Red Epic. They made the cable like specified in this thread: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?71581-These-Cables-Work-(And-why)

But somehow there is no audio coming in the camera. I already checked all settings i found and the cable and everything should be fine. The mic i use is battery powered so Phantom Power shouldn`t be the issue.

Has anyone an idea what else i could try?

Thanks!

Thanks a lot for your answer Julio but i already tried this and its not working:(

Same problem here,i send a log file to Red and got an RMA with a DHL number.My Epic brain is back to France but DHL asked me to pay duties and taxes,so be carefull if you are outside the US and contact your local custom office before you give your camera to DHL.

What microphone are you using? You may need to enable phantom power (even though your mic may use a battery).

Hi,

sorry, Jean & Phil somehow i missed your posts, thanks for the tipps!

@Jean:

I feel sorry for you, this sounds bad. I really hope i dont have to send it back to RED...

@Phil:

i tried it with an Rode NTG-2 with batteries inside because i think on the firmware build we are running phantom power is not yet enabled. We are running such an old build because with the newer ones the playback is not working when we power the camera with Red Bricks. Just for testing purposes i already installed an newer firmeware but we still didnt get audio. Although i am not sure if we had Phantom Power enabled at this point, so i will try it again today and report back!

Thanks for your help!

I have hada few occasions where my Scarlet doesn't recognize the Audio channels on boot up from my V-lock batteries but it does from powering up from either the side handle or the power supply. Are you getting the green lights in your display on your audio channels? For me this started after the last firmware upgrade but its an easy fix when it happens.

Ok, i now upgraded to the latest firmware and made sure that Phantom Power is enabled but it made no difference. Also tested with an Sennheißer MKH60 but also no Audio signal...:(

Any ideas what else to try?

@Ted Parkes:

Sadly i dont have the possibility to power from anything else other than V-Mount Batteries at the moment but i will try to test powering from an AC-Adapter as soon as possible. Yes, i get the green light when i plug in an microphone. What does your easy fix look like?

My easy fix has been to restart the camera from the Side handle or power supply. But for me if I get the green light I am good to go.
