Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere, but is it possible to loose all the operational info from the EVF.

Just finished a film on RED's with an operator who asked this question. Really just after image only. It was the first film he'd ever done on HD/Video, but thinking about it it would be useful.
all best, david

Yep!!!

Most frequent DP comments on our rentals:

#1 "Ok. It's heavier than I thought..."
#2 "So which button disables all that info in the EVF?"

Question: What aspects do you want to lose ?

At the most basic level, loosing everything but the frame guides and the recording indicator would be nice...

On some of the older film viewfinders you'd have the ability to rotate the image. This was great when someone not from the camera-department wanted to have a look. You'd just turn the picture around and when asked said that "this is why cameraman are paid so much". (Not that they are.)

Agreed with Mark: All I want are the frame lines, look around area, tally light [perhaps a more significant tally light...?] and NOTHING ELSE. This should ONLY affect the EVF, leaving the LCD chock full of info for the AC.

If there's no way around that [aka if the displays have to match], screw the AC. I still want to be able to turn all of that stuff off.

When I'm ACing, I almost always zoom the LCD in during takes to better judge focus (in focus-on-the-fly situations) and eliminate distractions.

If the displays do have to match, perhaps a solution is to have the info fade out of both displays and the LCD zoom in when record is pressed.
