  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Everything you wanted to know about the EPIC Canon Mount

I ordered mine right away, it's still not been sent out yet. I know they are doing their best to get them out to us but they are moving facilities, probably getting demands from grandfathered (Red One) owners to ship to them first. I can only say oh well and hope it arrives soon as well as the rest of the stuff. When frustration and excitement get to you remember, you are part of cinematic history on par with what Apple did to home computers -- this has already changed everything... Kodak, Arri are hanging on for dear life and Panavision announced they are no longer making film cameras.

Patience is good, making sure your customers are happy is good too, and all money spends the same way so it's a two way street. Red is by far the best camera company out there in the world today, they are just growing faster than even they anticipated.
 
Jarred, does the issue with the bug delay shipping out mounts or just upgrading?

This is what I was referring to.. Will this delay shipments? I was supposed to bein the next batch and my bomb rep told me because of this there will be a delay.. This sucks. I don't understand if it's not physical why can't they ship them ?

Please stay tuned and see, the bug may require a firmware update. I don't think you want to take any chances with a bug that Red would stop shipping for.
 
software build will not and has not stalled shipments whatsoever... and there are no grandfathered etc. priority.. it goes in order of when you completed your order for the mount on RED.COM.

Sorry for the delay in build... bug is fixed just wanted to go through 24 hours of testing.
 
I think I've worked out the secret...:idea: buy everything you need now!.... Load up!.. and hope it beats your EPIC body to the door. Because those EPICS are being made a hell of a lot quicker than a simple Canon mount. or a side grip.. .. and especially the Bomb EVF and RED MOTE.

I think is the only option we have... At least then once you get your EPIC, you can use it properly when it turns up.

I've just ordered 3 of everything I need. Fingers crossed my little plan works.. but going by Jason's 120 day + wait... I don't like my chances.:undecided: but hey! gotta try some way to get on top of this backorder issue.

there is nothing simple about those 3 things... each of those are unique inventions unique to our program and involve an incredible amount of software, hardware and mechanical development and assembly/machining engineering.

this has to be the most sobering post of 2011... well done!

here we are bitchin over waiting for the sickest kit on planet earth. I mean I want to teleport 8 months forward in time when EPIC is - well EPIC-LY distributed. and so do you guys.

I cant help but smile at how ludicrous complaints about delays are... you guys had no idea you were right, did you? :>))))))
 
Canon mount arrived here today. Didn't have the opportunity to put it to work myself just yet. They call it a "Titanium" mount, but when you pick it up, it's immediately obvious the alloy is comprised mostly of titanium and sex.

I'm sure they are not simple mate... but are still way way way less effort to manufacture compared to your most unique invention the incredible EPIC. :)))

We are all just trying to find ways to lesson the wait. I think buying up big these slow to manufacture accessories, well before you get your email for the X... to combat the long back order wait times is a good idea though .... yes.. no? :)

Seriously though, this mount is ROCK SOLID. Smooth as butter, lenses fit like a glove. I'm already in love. Can't wait to get out and shooting!
 
I do feel really bad about the build being delayed guys.. sorry for the delay. Will be worth the wait :)
