  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Everything you wanted to know about the EPIC Canon Mount

Doesn't matter where you ordered it from.. just when you ordered it. If you are mount deposit guy #3 on the list and ordered it in London, the 3rd mount off the line will be shipped to the UK and sold through Alan. No more of that Janky "USA customers first" hoarding on parts that used to happen along time ago :)

Happy man right here :) Well done guys for sorting this situation.

I am in the EU.
i have enough money in my red account in the US already to cover my Epic x stage 2 purchase ...
If I order in the store now will my deposit cover ? and will my deposit also cover payment for the epic x stage 2 ?

does anybody know ?

In re: the money to cover the Epic X Stage 2 purchase, I suspect they may be pretty swamped when shipping starts so you may have to alert your Bomb Squad rep that the money is in your account and is to be used to pay for your Epic X Stage 2. This is not official but just the way I assume it works, since I'm in the same situation as you. I assume that's how it will work for EU orders too, but like I said... I'm just guessing.

Any idea on whether a Nikon to Canon lens adapter such as this will work with the Epic Canon mount?

Good question, I've been meaning to ask this as well! We use dumb Canon adapters on our Nikon glass so we can use them with the 7D and 5D mkII. I can't see a reason why this wouldn't work with the Epic mont but always good to get confirmation.

That would be lovely. I have a Leica R 28 - 70 that I use on my 5d2. It would be awesome for quick work.

Wowzers. You guys really were serious when you said you wanted this mount.. almost sold the first batch out already :)

Jarred, I got my order in only an hour and a half after you posted this, any hints on when the first batch was gone (and if so, when the next round will roll out...)

Thank you! Much appreciated!

Picked up the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 zoom lens in Canon mount today in anticipation of getting the camera and the mount :)

It even works on the Canon 5D MkII at 16mm with just a touch of vignetting only (3:2 aspect full frame photos). Easily cropped to 16:9 or 2.40:1 to eliminate vignetting (on the 5D). And that's WITH a slim Zeta UV filter on!

I've checked the framing size via Photoshop and it should be vignette free on Epic at 11mm at everything below 5K 16:9 or 5K 2.40:1. Maybe a TINY bit of vignetting (at 11mm) if you use 5K FF. Will confirm once I get my camera!

Cheers from Tokyo,

Paul :)

Which adapter do you use? Have you been pretty happy with it?

I have an extensive collection of nikon to canon adapters. The best so far is the novoflex. pricey but real solid. I have a handful of the ebay offerings - OK but the lens has some movement in the mount. Using Zeiss ZF primes. Love to hear if these mounts are working on the Canon/Epic mount.
