  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ET video break out box

The breakout box just passes the signals through. Verify that the camera is set to output a format that is compatible with your monitor. If it still doesn't work, pull the breakout box and try again to verify that the signal is coming out of the camera in the first place.

The RED only outputs HD-SDI progressive signals over SDI. It does not output any partially segmented formats (psf).

Yeah, it's really strange. The camera is outputting a signal because I can view it from the Red monitor. However, I'm not getting anything to my Nebtek NEB70HD monitor. It's always nice to have a $500+ adapter that doesn't work.

Find a mini-BNC to BNC adaptor, if you can. Hook up your monitor. Establish that the camera is sending out a signal - not through the LCD/EVF ports, but through the mini-BNC jacks. The red monitor/evf and the four hd-sdi jacks that the ET mount sit on function independently of each other.

I know this sounds stupid, but is your monitor set up correctly? Have you sent a signal to it from a red camera before? I've wasted plenty of time cursing BNC leads and HD monitors when the real problem was an incorrect input. Try hitting the 'source' button a few times.

Good luck.

Just because it's on your Red monitor (I'm assuming you mean the Red LCD?), doesn't mean the camera is outputting an SDI signal. I would test it straight off the camera if you have not. The camera includes a mini-BNC to BNC adapter.

However, that may all be pointless because if I'm looking at the specs of the NEB70HD monitor correctly, then it doesn't accept SDI input anyway. It only seems to have S.Video and composite along with component HD. So you can't feed it a signal from the RED anyway.

Oh, I guess Scott beat me to it.

I know your particular issue has been settled, but just to back up Jeff, I have had the camera fail to output a proper HD-SDI signal [usually a bad clock signal that confused just about everything we plugged into it] on a few occasions [using build 17]. A reinstall fixed it.

There are two versions of the Nebtek monitor, one with HD component inputs and one with HD-SDI. The RED only outputs HD-SDI.
