Hello!

I'm looking for some help on an error issue at my workstation.

I get this error at the launch of Davinci Resolve, do you guys have any knowledge on this error? Could OSX 10.7.2 be the problem? I just updated the Red Rocket firmware and the problem remains.

Setup:

Mac Pro
OSX 10.7.2
2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
20 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Red Rocket with latest firmware update

Thanks,
Anton

The exact message is "Failed to initialize Red Rocket Card 0" and appears directly upon launching the program.

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5870
Firmware version: 1.4.32, released 11/29/2012.
Resolve version: DaVinci Resolve Lite 9.1.1

I have seen this when I had another program open that was using the rocket (ie Premiere). Once I closed Premiere and relaunched Resolve I didn't get the error. Not sure if that helps or not, but it worked for my issue.

Thanks for your reply Kenny.
I've tried this but it comes up even when Resolve is the only program running.

I'm having the same error. No other programs open. Rocket card is seen by the computer and works flawlessly in REDcine (but again, I have that program closed down when I'm in Resolve).

Also -- split screen is not working... In the GUI viewer or via the HDSDI monitor out. The timeline plays but the stills only show up as completely black. I can grab the black and pull it more/less over the screen.

5.1 MacPro
OS 10.8.2
GTX 580 (modified to meet 570 spec for power/clock speed)
Most recent version Resolve
I have to check re: if my Rocket firmware is most recent or version before it...
Also a Black Magic extreme 3d Card

Thanks Johnny, I will try this today.

One question: after removing the Rocket Card from the PCI Slot, do I need to start and then shut down the computer, before putting the Red Rocket back?

This solved the problem. Big thanks for the help!

Thanks to everyone as well.

For those who miss the Important Notes when installing Resolve 9.1.1, this version requires new Red Rocket driver and firmware installed, or you will also get a similar "Failed to initialize Red Rocket Card 0" error.

The Red Rocket Driver and Firmware required for Resolve 9.1.1 is:

Red Rocket Driver: 1.4.32
Red Rocket Firmware: 1.1.16.11

I am getting this error with Resolve 10.1.3.

My card is updated to above Driver/Firmware.

I just updated to 10.1.3 along with Maverick.

Got rid of the error with firmware updates on card.

However Resolve 10.1.3 crashes constantly at edit playback.

This is with an FCPX XML file using R3Ds.
