  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ER

Looking forwards to it Brook!

We booked the living room... not that we have kids or roommates, but it is a date.

I hope your thread will follow soon after Brook.

Just turned it on and it looks great. I did have to laugh though when ER went to break and they advertised Southland sneak peak (which just came on as I was typing this), then an ad came on for "Knowing". Pretty funny that 3 RED productions in a row were on NBC.

Southland is taking ER's timeslot, so there's no surprise there! :)

Hell, I'm posting from the Southland set right now. Never got to see an ER episode at time of broadcast!

I caught just the begining. It looked really soft focus and grainy/noise. Not sure what was going on with that but maybe it got better later in the show?

Watched on a Sony 60" sxrd. Looked pretty good to me. Hard to say what DirecTV does to the signal but it does seem that if you buzz focus, a digital sensor is less forgiving than 35mm film. If you miss focus just a little the image looks soft rather than just out of focus. my 2cts anyway.

Nice seeing the cast all together on that last shot. Congrats to all involved on the project through and through and for shorter periods as well. That was some run.

Are you sure you weren't seeing the archival film stuff from the documentary? I thought the Red Footage looked much sharper and cleaner than the archival footage they included in the documentary.

No it was at the begining when Noah Wyle was giving some kind of speach to a bunch of people in a lobby. That was all I watched but the footage looked really poor. Now don't everyone jump all over me, I have personally shot a lot of red footage that looks great so I am not putting it on the camera. Unfortunately what I saw of the ER footage looked really bad. Not sure what caused the problem.

But it helps warm the house and it gets so cold up here in my Canadian igloo.

Good to see ya Greg, are you going to NAB. We really need to catch up!

Look out "Thunder down Under" boys Finner and DigitalFx are back in Vegas!

Hmmm...

Finner, can you read the last line of this chart?

Interesting, I thought it looked soft, too, sort of earthy and un-ER like. Not a bad look. Just not a match for my expectations of the show. I wonder what kind of lenses they were using.

The ending reminded me exactly why I gave up on that show oh, about 9 or 10 years ago. Shtoopid.

Brook, was the 1-hour ER retrospective also a RED-shot production?

The grade/look was very different from the series episodes.
