Here is a fully operational Epixa (Epic+Pix 240) shooting rig that I built for a little test...

Cute huh? It's got prores/DNX-HD on board and is about the same size as a stock Alexa :001_tt2:
I like how the pix is still in the silhouette of the Epic, even the cables are well controlled and everything is powered by the Switronics AB battery.
It just uses a slightly modified Zacuto rail piece to connect the pix, very solid too, no problem for handheld etc.
If you wan to shoot proxy files or just plain old prores here's a great all in one solution.

Very cool. Can't figure out for the life of me which follow focus unit that is, but I dig the setup!

Looks like I was only 1/2 right :) Love the rig!

Excellent. The Pix does kinda make it look like an Alexa :)

I'd love to be able to add a plate that used the connections for the sidehandle to instead give the Redmote a hard connection and power while it sits there. I know 3rd parties are interested, but it will probably be a job left for RED to handle (or not to handle... that is the question ;)

Maybe Sergio, but I can tell you from experience a properly setup Epic (without Pix) is a much better balanced, lighter and comfortable handheld camera than the Alexa.

Good to hear, Evin. Certainly one of the big advantages of The DSMC modularity. Reassuring words for a future Epic owner!

great idea - i've found the side handle quite useless and hate having the usb cable strong along the side of the camera

Nice rig Evin, I have a question though. How are you handling the HDSDI output? Meaning, are you controling the video levels in your EPIC? Do you have a setting you like? I had my NanoFlash hooked up to my Scarlet and noticed that the highlights were clipping at around 90IRE.
Any suggestions?
