  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic...

I would have thought the one useful/essential feature would be compatability with the One's accessories (eg batteries, mounts, rods, etc.) all the things that add cost to the base price. I think that would make people very happy.

After the release of Epic, we will offer a sensor upgrade to the RED ONE. More dynamic range with the same specs. New Mysterium X sensor. Should be middle of 2009.

Jim

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. In my very humble (I'm a writer by training, not a DP) opinion dynamic range is the only thing that film has over the Red One at this point.

(well, other than a nice shoulder, but with more dynamic range you decrease the frequency of blown highlights and reduce that problem)

Nicely done.

First of all let me say "WELCOME BACK JIM"!

Even so I don't reply much to your posts, I do read them all, and this forum, just was not the same lately, so glad to see you posting again, a home w/o his "HOST" is an empty home!

Now as far as you great offer on the credit for our RED ONE cameras for EPIC, this is nothing short of WOW!!!

But as I think I'll pass, RED #349 will stay with me for good!

But I'll still take several EPIC cameras as soon as the will be available, as well as several SCARLET cameras.

Will there be a limit at first for us RED owners, for how many EPIC and SCARLET cameras we can buy?

Again, great to have you back Jim.

Btw, finalizing the design on the fixtures, so will e-mail you soon with details, and thanks for your interest.

ciao

Dynamic range is really the last stronghold for chemical 35mm film. It's great to see a lot of emphasis at Red on getting over this final hurdle for digital.

Epic = Film Slayer.

Jim,

Have you decided if the EPIC will have the possibility to use SLR lenses with an adapter ?

I think it is a must.
Not only for budget considerations, but also for weight.
...and one of the EPIC interest for me is its lightweight.

Good call for the upgraded MysteriumX for the RED ONE.
...exactly what you said two years ago. Upgradable.

thanks

Antoine

I cant believe this generous offer. I am so glad we all trusted this project. You may be only two years old but you are changing the way the business is run and I love it. It'll sure pay off. Looking forward to epic and red one. Thanks and welcome back.

Thank you Jim. You're so generous!

Welcome back Jim, and thanks for the " Pay to grow " business model and all red one owners are technology future proof no matter what our K future holds.

Probably too early to say what the cost of this upgrade will be, right? How about a target no more than? Or no less than? :innocent:

Great Upgrade terms from Red to Epic!, thanks Jim!

Not sure Epic will be right for me, lots of things to do and consider before then... But the full value trade-in is just awesome!

My only question is what happens to the trade-in cameras?
Upgraded, refurbished, and turned around at a slight discount?
Might be a nice way for some of us to get (first or extra) some more Red Ones

Thnx JJ.

My Red One is a piece of history.

Good luck getting it from my cold dead hand in the far future.

Thanks for the generous trade in offer, but I think I will have to buy an epic.

How about a discount for current REDONE owner instead.

I have too much money invested in support gears to let go of my REDONE.

Thnx for everythings.

Keep smoking those cigars, it's working.

LOL
