  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC-X UPDATE

Jarred, the included Titanium mount is very generous and will look very nice on my shelf... ;-).... but can you tell us if the Nikon mount will be ready by the time the cameras start shipping?

I'm happy to hear this because of three reasons:
1) Everything starts moving again.
2) You RED guys can relax a little bit.
3) Most importantly: Good news for Japan. I so hope that the people there get the feeling of progress, too, and that all the humanitarian issues will be solved soon!

And now the same for Scarlet, please! :D

Jarred, thank you for the great news.

The original spec for the Base I/O was:

Base I/O Module $1750
Single and dual link HD-SDI with Full size BNC.
Mini-XLR Audio Inputs
One Aux power/GPIO
Lens/RS232
Timecode input/output.

No audio output on the Base I/O module.

Are there now mini-XLRs on the brain itself, or do we need to buy the Pro I/O to get XLRs?

I just felt my anxiety level drop with the additional knowledge about the timing. Thanks Jarred!

Our assembly lines and assembly staff in Southern California have been built up to full capability and once the parts hit our docks, we will be able to build a tremendous amount of cameras in a short period of time.

As a potential Scarlet or Epic-S customer, this is great news, because I'm guessing this means not too long waiting lists for any of those cameras.

Who has ever heard of a company – not being responsible for the delay – saying 'thanks for your patience' with two such presents?

With the new package, I will have to be getting the pro I/O module. Does anyone remember the price? I need to know if I can get it straight out, or if I will have to swap some stuff.
Jay

Previous Stage 2 Package: Brain, PL Mount (Al) , Side CF Module , 5" LCD, REDmote , Module Adaptor , Base I/O Module , Pro Battery Module, 2x REDVolts , Travel Charger

New Stage 2 Package : Brain , PL Mount (Ti) , Side SSD Module , 5" LCD, REDmote, Module Adaptor , Pro Battery Module, 2x REDVolts, Travel Charger

Great news Jarred. Very generous of Red to include the Titanium mount and SSD . Was wondering about the i/o module. With the base Module no longer available in stage 2, will the Pro i/o now be an add-on or standard? Forgive me if I missed the explanation elsewhere in the thread.

EDIT: Jay beat me to the punch.

Pro module is already included in your package:

New Stage 2 Package : Brain , PL Mount (Ti) , Side SSD Module , 5" LCD, REDmote, Module Adaptor , Pro Battery Module, 2x REDVolts, Travel Charger

The delay has been brutal, but these modifications are such a nice gesture from RED... I really can't wait for Epic-X to make its debut.

Pro module is already included in your package:

Jay (and others) were asking about the Pro I/O module, not the Pro Battery module.

The Pro I/O module is NOT included in the package.
The last price and details I saw for it are:

Pro I/O Module $2950
The PRO I/O module will support up to 4 channels of AES-EBU digital audio and will be compatible with mixers like the Sound Devices 552.

The maximum number of recorded audio channels is 4, so enabling two or four AES-EBU inputs disables the corresponding analog audio input(s).

The Base I/O Module does not include the AES-EBU digital audio inputs. There is a Word Clock out pin in the same connector that ingests the AES/EBU digital audio.

Single and dual link HD-SDI with Full size BNC.
Full size XLR Audio Outputs
Full size XLR Audio Inputs
Two Aux power/GPIO ports.
Lens/RS232
Timecode input/output.

This is good to know Jarred! Now it means we will have a 3rd Epic before too long, which is ideal considering we're doing our next 4 films in S3D.

Pro I/O module is something I'm waiting for...it should mean we can then run the Bomb EVF and Red Pro 5.0 touch screen at the same time...as well as having XLR inputs.

While we're at it, I'm guessing the Pro I/O will include some way to record that pesky 1080 4:4:4 that everyone's been clamouring for. Such a feature would pay for itself in the first week.

Awesome! Thanks for the update Jarred.

Very generous to include the PL and SSD as standard for a more unified RED community.
