  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC-X UPDATE

O yes indeed.... :)

Jarred, what's the plan in regards to how much heads up you guys will give from when you send us an email "Your EpicX is almost ready" to the day it ships? With Red that was ~30 days as I recall. Are you planning on a different time length this time around? Or are you going to do a sudden zero-time "Your EpicX is ready immediately" email?

I'm thinking zero-time since Jarred has said they're still on track for Epic-X at the end of the month which is less than 2 weeks away. You being #27 would have heard something if the 30-day email is true..

The 30 days with R1 is how long they gave you to pay before moving down the list, not when it would be ready.

With my R1 my email came in about 5 days before it could ship.

Will the Epic-X still be beta? (as in the same stage as Epic M feature wise) or will it have most of the missing features enabled? (Playback, Audio phantom power etc...)... and most important, will the accessories be available in large quantity to meet the huge demand this awesome camera is going to generate?... :-) (Redvolt, Quick release plates, back pack etc...)

Can't wait!!!!

If you are concerned about Epic accessories you should start ordering them now. I ordered the DSMC platform pack months ago, I have also stocked up on Redvolts and Redmags and a few other things.

Maz, the Epic X should have the exact same firmware as the Epic M. I can't imagine otherwise.

Hi mark,
I understand it will have the same firmware...I am just wondering if by the time the X is release if all the features will be enabled. We currently have an Epic M (and two Xs in stage 2) and when we go on a job with it we have to warn the customers that it's still in beta and not a full production unit. I am just wondering if we will still have to give them a disclaimer once the X is out or will it be considered a production ready unit with all or most features enabaled. Not complaining just wondering. :-)

EPIC-X will roll out with the first EPIC "production" build.

"Always late but worth the wait"... at some point "late" turns into "now". "Now" is next week.

Jim

wow.... on target!

Wow! Congratulations Jim and all at RED... Thank you for constantly pushing the envelope. I don't think the competition really knows what kind of a storm is coming to them!

All the best,
