  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC-X at IBC...

Epic-X deal, help me understand please

Epic-X deal, help me understand please

Ok so as this all moves into reality instead of renders, I am now starting to ask the money and detail questions.. Help me out here:

In the Epic X deal we are to recieve a:
Brain
CF Module
Redmote
I/O module
Battery Module

Here are my questions: In the list of accessories, there does not seem to be a "Base I/O module" or a "regular" I/O module.. Only a "Pro I/O"module. Is this the one in the Epix-X package? I hope so! :)

I am assuming the Battery Module does not come with batteries. That's cool.

Redmote is not listed in the Epic X deal, but I asked Jim long ago if it was included and he said "yes".

I am beginning to try to get an idea of just how much money I am going to need to get together here!

With Jay here - need to figure out cash situation.

Any chance we could get ind prices listed for all the accessories?

I'm in the same boat. Epic-X...what exactly is included and what else will we need to make pictures?

Well same here for the cash situation...really would like to get some sort of heads up :)

I am assuming the Battery Module does not come with batteries. That's cool.

Why wouldn't they give batteries with the battery module? Not saying they will but just curious as to know why they wouldn't?

Wicked stuff I hear about the coming CF Modules and stuff for DSMC systems...stuff that thank god someone decided to think of cause I don't think I've seen any other company think of hot swappable CF card slots (dual cf card slots) maybe I'm wrong, is there anyone that does that?

batteries are separate from battery module ( because there are options for the batteries)

We are still sorting out what the Epic-X upgrade package looks like.

i agree it is not so much the prettiness aspect in things that matters in design, but the questions and challenges that arise from putting yourself through that process, like discovery, innovation, and ultimately the shell we call design comes and reflects, naturally, what we call pretty. through creation we interface with the unknown, with what we haven't dealt with, and ultimately the results, a new interface, is available for others to continue interfacing. That's what RED is doing, much beyond film making, and ARRI is not. the new is the possibility of something more of the old you with a new old.IMO ARRi is just hOLDING.

How good the camera looks matters if it is ever in the picture. Dah!

Companies spend a lot of money keeping their cameras colour co-ordinated and scratch free. Epic and Scarlet look great from the renders and pics so far – that's a good thing.
