  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC Wishlist

efp/eng requirements !!

efp/eng requirements !!

prerecord mode is an absolute must... (and sleep mode if possible), + 4k, 16:9...

If you captur 5k FF then you barely chop the sides for 16x9. I just set the 16x9 guides and frame for the 16x9 frame guide and fit height on the output preset.

Well the 4K HD mode isn't literally 4K wide, why not do the same thing with 5K? I.E. 4800x2700?

Is there some reason 5x HD wouldn't be as useful as 4x HD?

Well you could always crop to 4800 x 2700 and scale to 1920 x 1080, but the reason 3840 x 2160 is so appropriate to TV is it's a 2:1 scale. And that means faster turn around in post, and important issue for TV workflows.

Any word on an improved time lapse mode? I'm sure it's on the list, but is it a priority

Wish :
Restore the sensor flip mode , to allow compact side by side 3D rigs.
Allow remote trigger wire to cause a frame to be shot, for time lapse usage.

Let two cameras sync 3D without resorting to 1980's video sync/genlock box technology.

This might be more of a suggestion for Scarlet, but it could help inexperienced Epic users too: I suggest to make the display of ISO/ASA values yellow if no at 800 and Kelvin as well if not at 5.000 to indicate that the display is not a the native properties of the sensor (just like the fps getting yellow on Varispeed). While it's not gospel to view your scene at those values, it should help to avoid mistakes.

Agree on Prerecord and sleep mode might come with power management. I just turn it off now that it only takes ten seconds to boot up.

My biggest wish is a next gen RedRocket card that is priced at 25% the price of a scarlet body. :)

3D Wishes...

1) Horizontal and vertical flip for displayed image (but NOT user interface) on LCD. This is very helpful for side-by-side LCD viewing of mirror rig output.

2) Master - Slave autofocus - it would be great to be able to autofocus the master camera (presumably the one on the transmission side of the beamsplitter) and have the focal length pushed to the slave camera (assuming identical lenses).

Stills wishes:

1:1 compression
Bracket exposure - a lot like HDR but with multiple 1/2 stop variations
Lightroom r3d import
Clip delete in camera
Back mount DSLR-size monitor

And, of course and most of all, flash sync.
