  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic Will Have A Deep Impact On "Film" As An Artform

...

Are people really "deleting" (wiping) these cards without archiving them in some fashion...? As an independent, we always shoot everything we can so that it is "evergreen". A reasonable amount of our footage from years back eventually finds its way to broadcast TV on tomorrow's programs.

...

I sincerely doubt it. At least in 99.9% of cases.

Red is the first camera company I know of to offer an upgrade of the sensor without having to buy a whole new camera. That's not exactly the same as using a 30-year-old camera with modern film stocks, but its a great idea, and I assume they'll continue that trend with the Epic and Scarlet.

Apart from the actual technology that RED are building one of the ingredients that gives them such a kudos from me is the modularity approach to the Epic and Scarlet lines. Relatively against spec, affordable pricing; Not holding back breakthroughs if its ready to leave the table; Driving to make the impossible, not only possible but with as minor a compromise as today's techology will allow; Never afraid to challenge the quo. They are gentlemen against thieves and gods amongst men, for all independents and media creators out there.

Its the way it SHOULD be done.

Major kudos to them.
