With two Epic's in order, what are the timelines now looking like. I have not been back to the boards in sometime, and hope someone has some idea.

all the best
Colin

GUESS: as soon as mark pederson from offhollywood gets his tatoo add another 4-10 months depending on your stage and place in line, could start next week or next month, who knows :)

last i heard was a hope to have the scarlets out by christmas... so my guess is late october early november.

Its like predicting the weather - we can say with fairly high certainty what will happen in the short term, and beyond that, its chaos theory in action.

From the many, many posts on the subject, combined with what facts we have, it seems pretty unlikely to happen in 2010.

I guess it just further proves the point made in your first sentence that I disagree with your second one.

From everything I have heard here on the forum in the last several weeks, I believe it is actually quite likely that we will see Epic start to ship in 2010.

I fully believe that the Epic is on it's way rather soon, and not to much of important news will be followed by a surprise I guess. I think Jim and his team should fully concentrate on getting this system 100% working and produce a lot of them and deliver them asap to their customers. It's a little different approach then we're all used to , but it works as well. they have proved that already. I'm a little surprised it looks like they even need more time then with the r1 (might be wrong??) but that must have it's own reason. Probably they're to excited and can't give us enough new features , maby some we couldn't dream off.... I hope they have listened to the forum and have tried the best they could by now to fullfill everybody's wishes and feature requests, and I surely hope they can come up with solutions for them.

Good luck Red team.

I am totally sure that it won't come out before they are absolutely sure it is the best in the competitive environment it is going to enter.

That may take a week or six more months. Heck, we may even see Scarlet before Epic.

I hope your wrong brotha :emote_popcorn:

What would be awesome would be for RED to show up at NAB 2011 with a booth full of Scarlets in boxes ready to be bought with a credit card right there on the showroom floor. And a truckload of Scarlets waiting in the wings to refill the booth and keep the sales flowing.

They'd move $5 million in Scarlets in that one show just on impulse buys alone.

What would be cool is if the numbered EPICs started trickling out in September. *Exactly 3 years after the first numbered R1s went out*

That would still leave a two month gap for SCARLET. ..enough time to start deliveries before the the end of the year.

every day without epic is a good day for red one m-x owners, getting more out of their cameras....

Very true. Although...

We could have a situation where EPIC owners price there rentals high enough, so as not to destroy the R1 market.

...not sayin it's likely. ...just sayin it's possible.

I think EPIC will come to the right time... before end of the year hopefully.... every week waiting for the big announcement is a horror, but I think it will be an interesting Winter.... lots of time for testing and showing....

2012. Right before the world ends. :)

Ready to buy Multiple Scarlets and upgrade Red Ones.....

I remember Jim saying something like if Epics weren't out in sigificant numbers within 5 months that they were in deep doo doo. That was sometime in July I think in the update Q&A session. So hopefully they are still on the 5 month from then time track, which would mean no later than December this year.
I'm an incurable optimist, so I say before Thanksgiving barring any more uglies raising their heads.

Who knows. But as long as we're all speculating, I doubt it will be this year or even early next. The Tattoo program will most likely be a time of great discovery...that will take some time through production, post etc....then even more time for addressing those discoveries in design and software adjustments. I just don't see how the Tatto program can't be at least 3 months to put it through it's paces, and then another ??? months for Red to make adjustments.

Now if they treat it more like the Red 1 release (but they seem to be leaning away from that this time) who knows, could be out much sooner.

Unfortunately I am recently getting more and more sure about this: 2010 fuggedaboutit- unless you are up for Tattoo, maybe I am wrong - if you asked me back in march I would be 100% sure I got it by now, luckily I have my MX´ed R1!

I really miss Jims appearance on these forums!

guess2:
fincher and soderbergh finish their shooting, 2-4 weeks adjustments, tatoo, 8 months later stage 3.

hopefully no back orders on modules :)
