  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Im kinda bummed at this point right now, flew down to LA and purchased a Epic from a gentleman that I won't name. But I am now finding out after looking at full resolution and I had black shaded the camera before the shoot. What are these patterned pixels appearing on the screen? I had owned and operated my Red Scarlet mx for 8 months so I am familiar with the cameras, but hadn't ever seen this on the scarlet. What is going on? Please help!

Hi Conner,

I had a look and I can't see the problem you are describing. Is it banding?, pixel pattern?, moire? also can you post a full frame with the area you are looking at highlighted? That might help me look in the same place.

It looks like 3 and 4 then another 2 blue and red pixels going up stairs.

I noticed these on my 4k monitor.

Not seeing anything in these two sample, att least on an iPad. I once had a red pixel center of frame. Freaked me out! A black shade fixed it right up. How are you viewing the images?

I'd do this.

1. save all your presets.
2. Do a factory reset
3. Do a fresh series of black shading calibrations.
4. Set up a test to try to repeat the problem/area of the frame.
Non of what you are showing seems visible at full frame, but there are variables, monitor, output path etc, that have to be eliminated one by one.

Like Stacy, I can not see the problem you are describing.

What version of RCX/color science are you using?

In the last example I see a line of dots starting about 1/4 of the way in on the lower left side, rising to the right at about at 30 degree angle. Is that what you are referring to?

To me, it looks like I am seeing signs of refraction, almost as if these were microlenses, which would lead me to suspect that the olpf has something splattered on it or is scratched.

If you can, get a small flashlight and a magnifying glass or a loupe and examine the surface of the olpf.

I've seen similar issues to this before. Only when I was a extremely hot and humid environment(Seychelles) then I travelled to high elevations to a super cold and dry environment(15k feet in elevation). After my first black shade I noticed some issues similar to the one your showing. I also had a few random dead pixels showing up as well.
