I currently have a pre-order for a Scarlet-W and I'm curious about comparing the slow motion crop factor between this camera and the Epic-W.

As an example, if I'd like to capture 50FPS, would the Epic-W actually be more cropped than the Scarlet-W?
Based on the specs, the Epic-W needs to be set to 6k (or lower) to record at least 50FPS. Where as the Scarlet-W would be set to its full 5k resolution to record 50FPS.

Similarly, how does this play out between the two when 120FPS is desired?

Lastly is there a more updated crop factor calculator than the link below that reflects this new camera?

Thanks,

6.5k helium is the closest to 5k Dragon.
6.5k helium Epic-W does 48fps in raw codec (maybe 50fps...not sure)
Epic-W can do 120fps at any crop, if choosing the Prores 2k codec (including 4444).

EDIT: apparently my info is not exactly accurate, per responses below.

EDIT: so 5k dragon is in between 6.5k-7k helium. They are both close to 5k dragon, but 7k helium is closer than 6.5k helium by a small factor.
6.5k epic-w can only currently do 47fps. Regarding 120fps Prores, word on the street is that it needs to be at or less than 5k helium crop (just smaller than 4k dragon crop).

7k helium HD is closest to 5k Dragon HD

EpicW is limited by frame rates posted -- the limit is NOT data rate but sensor refresh rates. Two out of 3 of these are incorrect.

Use phfx.com/tools for these sorts of things. Play around and use one as a reference point you know, then work from there.

No, not 50... 47FPS at 6.5K WS
Epic-W cannot do 120FPS at any crop to ProRes. Only at 5K WS and less.
It can do 120FPS in RAW at 5K WS as well.

Jack so you mean that the Epic-W can do 120fps at only 2k resolution in prores correct?

Wrong.

Epic-W CAN do 120FPS in RAW at 5K WS (and less) as well as ProRes (though I haven't confirmed if that is simultaneous..

Generally the FOV between Scarlet-W frame rates and comparable Epic-W is 10% difference for less.
