First... I want to be very clear about this up front. I am in exploratory mode. I'm very serious but haven't decided yet.

I'm thinking I might have bitten off more than I can chew.

I'm a Scarlet-W waiter who jumped at the chance to get the Epic-W. But now that I have it, I realize this may indeed be more camera than I need.

Are any of you current Scarlet-W owners who didn't switch thinking about switching?

My preference would be to get a low hours Scarlet-W and $12,500 (or your best offer). You'd get a VERY low hours (15 hrs) Epic-W immediately, hence the surcharge (which also helps cover my taxes).

OR

if someone is interested in just buying the Epic-W brain outright, that would be $27,000 (or your best offer).

If you have any interest, just PM me and we can negotiate.

I think most S-W current owners were invoiced before the 10/11 or taken delivery before 10/11. This means that they could get into E-W for $9,550.
Offering $12,500 would be a hard sell at this point.

Your best bet i to wait a couple of months, until there are more S-W invoiced and/or take delivery after the 10/11 date. These are your target market.

Also, don't be discouraged. There's nothing wrong with you selling it at $26K, or even at $28K. This camera is worth at least double that. Just think about what the competition (at this price point) can or cannot do, like the F55 and C700. I am still amazed at what this camera can do. I think $29,500 for what the E-W can do is dirt cheap.

Just be patient. Once the upgrade program blows over, there will be people looking for E-W capabilities without the S-W deal. You may have to sell the E-W and buy the S-W separately, not as a one deal thing.

If you got a special rebate for a car, say $10k rebate, would you sell that same car 5 years later $10K below the market value (blue book)? I think not.

That's a lot of profit on your end.

I could offer $16,000.00 for the Brain only (15hrs) , no Scarlet-W included.

Charles, I just paid $21,800 (base plus tax) of real money for this camera. Unless YOU are doing an upgrade, you would have to pay Red $30K for this camera (plus tax). What I'm offering in the brain only deal is a savings of $2,500 and you get it immediately. Yes, there is profit in it for me and that is the part that is negotiable. :)

But my hope is for someone interested in trading a Scarlet-W who is in a hurry. My understanding is someone who currently HAS a Scarlet-W will have to wait in line before they can upgrade for the discounted rate, so that is my target buyer. I'd prefer trade plus cash this because I don't want to get in line again for Scarlet-W.

It might help your sale/trade, if you edit your post above with that to open. $2,500 to get upgrade the S-W to E-W, NOW.... the $2,500 is negotiable. or something like that. Good luck. Cheers.

Correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I was aware, you cannot sell your Epic-W until a certain amount of time has passed by. I upgraded from Scarlet-W to Epic-W and remember reading something along the lines of not being able to resell it for awhile because of the discount.

Not to mention, you are kinda doing RED dirty as they gave us such a huge discount to upgrade from Scarlet-W to Epic-W and now you are turning around and making a profit of that generosity. It's these types of situations that might make RED rethink just how generous they are to their clients. I understand covering the cost of taxes, and I also understand that the market value of the camera is much higher than what we bought it for ($19,500 plus tax) it just doesn't seem right to make such a huge profit.

Sean, I will email Red and ask if what you say is true. I am NOT trying to "do Red dirty"... If you look at the Epic-W posts pre release, as I was excited as anybody to get the W. Honestly, my post went out yesterday because I'm looking at the new DJI Inspire 2 and thinking there is no way I can afford to spend that extra coin too... something has to give. The Epic-W is a GREAT GREAT camera, but maybe I should have stayed in line for the Scarlet-W and saved my $10K for the Inspire 2... I'm just thinking through my options publicly and am not trying to take advantage. But if selling an E-W is against the rules, maybe a moderator can just delete the thread. No harm meant.

Would you rather Andy sells his E-W for $16k? I wouldn't want that. It would mean lowering the resell value for all E-Ws out there, including yours and mine. I for one am glad that so far all the E-Ws for sale on the Marketplace sections are close to the $29,500 asking price. Keep the value high. Cheers.

Personally I would think about holding onto your Epic-W for a bit. The price on Helium sensor cameras might go up. Jarred and Brent hinted at a possible/likely price hike back in the update thread. I'd expect quarter one next year. Either way though, people should not be crapping in your sale thread. That's always been against forum rules. People are so self entitled. I can't believe someone actually offered you $16k. Wow.

Thanks Adam... like I said, I can understand if someone was trying to play Red and use their generosity to make a buck. That's not me. I just wanted to get a feel if there was any interest and in these couple days, not a single sign of interest... so I guess I get to keep my Helium. :) which is probably a good thing. I sure wish they'd release the color science.

I dont think that there is anything wrong with Andy's price. He had a deposit in and waited for a long time. Red gave him a deal. That deal doesn't need to translate to deals for people buying 2nd hand. That being said when I bought my Helium in the terms of the upgrade they say you need to keep it for 90 days before reselling it.
