Has anyone already examples of the quality of the 6K crop images of Epic W.
I have bit stomach pain with the strong crop for higher framerates and loss of quality in comparison to a 6K Dragon Image.
Best would be a 1:1 comparison Dragon 6K frame to 6K Helium frame.

And still interested in more informations about the DR in the highlights ... maybe Red can say more here what we have to expect with firmware and OLPF´s ...

questions questions questions ...

Cheers !

That's a good question. What's even more concerning is - is 5K or 4K going to even be usable on any S35 lens due to severely cropped FOV.

Someone should compare a 6K Dragon/Weapon with an 8K Epic-W.

I ordered the W and will definitely face these shooting scenarios, but I think I'll only see my camera early November. In the mean time would really like to see a comparison Epic Dragon v Epic W at 6K WS 100 FPS with these three lenses : Tokina 11-16, Canon 11-22 L F4 , my personal favourite Canon 24 1.4L II and, if possible, the 20 1.4 ART from Sigma.

yes, but it´s interesting how it reacts when you miss exposure. Dragon has a very nice roll off in this case, so iam looking forward to see more footage when the sensor is at the limit on the highlights

6K is still 6K, so I don't see how the quality would be worse than Dragon 6K, especially since the smaller Helium photosites are more sensitive to light.

But a 6K crop relative to the same shot framed at 8K, or relative to 8K downscaled to 6K, would theoretically be worse.

Call me a fan boy but I think any "concerns" over what Helium can or can't do are going to be blown to smithereens.

Even Majtan's 4K crop at 120 FPS looks very nice and that is worse case scenario.

Clark, looking forward to seeing more of what you guys do with 8K. Any footage from Majtan's jungle shoot going to end up in your library?

Andy - yes some of Peter's jungle footage will added to the MHD 8K Galleries (as soon as it arrives...) along with a LOT of other 8K (H and VV) footage as we have several of the MHD Talentbase shooting and sending material from all over the world - and am expecting a few new Helium and E-W owners to be joining MHD soon.. so the MHD 8K Galleries wil be expanding quickly
