  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic Touch Screen Issues?

Whenever there was a drop down menu, I'm very rarely able to actually make a selection.

This is my problem too.

What do you mean exactly when you say you can't make a selection. Instead of actually selecting an item your touch incorrectly gets registered as a drag? That is, you move the list slightly rather than selecting the item you want?

For me "not able to make a selection" means, if humidity is low, say after opening the ISO setting the touchscreen does not react at all to my finger. Nothing happens, and I'm not able to select the color temperature or anything. After hitting the screen several times, then it suddenly reacts. But humidity makes all the difference. This reliability issue is why use the side handle all the time.

The less moisture you have in your skin, the less conductive it is, so it only seems logical that folks with very dry hands or thick callouses would have more difficulty using a capacitive screen than other folks. Something as simple as maintaining skin moisture could be a solution. Just try to keep the Jergens off of your monitor. ;-)

Trent, I too am having this issue with my touch. The drop down menu will open, but usually takes ~3 tries to select an item within it. AF drop down seems to be the most problematic. I've learned to just use the side handle, but without that I can see how this issue would be frustrating.

Operate by touching from above, not below – seems to help, at least with my two screens.

@ Trent: Is it capacitive, conductive or pressure sensitive?

I've found that a very very light touch is 95% effective. Some people are used to pressing harder on touch screens, so I tell them to be really gentle with the touch and that seems to do the trick.

Jonathan - Good suggestion. I have had problems with the touchscreen response, but using a light touch seems to help. - John

I'm pretty sure Jarred said it was capacitive.
