  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC Titanium mount... why not stainless steel?

Thermal stability is why Red went the Ti route if I remember correctly. Some Red One owners complained of focus shift/back focus change when the camera heated up. Ti has much better dimentional stability than Al when heated, but then again the Scarlet/Epic cameras proably do not get as hot as the R1. Don't know about Canon, but there are many SLR's with stainless mounts screwed to plastic camera bodies. DSLR cameras do not generate the kind of heat that Red cameras do.

DSLR cameras does not really relay on a perfect flange distance. Since Most lenses are not marked, and if they are they are quite in accurate.
They do auto focus with sharp detect and by doing so an exact flange is not so crucial However it's strange that they are plastics because a long heavy lens can very much give a "swing shift" effect. like shoting right towards a flat wall and not being able to hold the top and bottom of the wall in focus at the same time.
