  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic Test in Stockholm

Don't take this the wrong way but I don't think the HDRX blended examples here look any good... Yes, the dynamic range is impressive and the examples here show that well but to me they look under exposed and flat. I'm sure with a grade they will be much nicer but then what's the point of shooting HDRX here? Give those shots a black and a white point and some moderate contrast and they'll look much more finished... But again, why use HDRX?

I shot some steadicam stuff recently where I went from full sun outdoors to a dim interior and HDRX worked a treat! But that was two different scenes with vastly different exposures. This is where HDRX is a clear choice. But with your example I don't think it was necessary or at least the final blended HDRX shots don't look right to me.

Again, I don't mean to offend... I'm just curious and am afraid I'm missing something here....

I think they just wanted to show the DR to grade form something that actually have both the sky and the dark side of the bridge is far nicer than having a white sky or nothing on the shadowed bridge. I guess these where even composed as redlogfilm, in other words great source for grading... thats my guess.

I wonder what one would say about ungraded native 18 stops of the Dragon, he he. As have been said before, nice fat (only looks flat) digital negative to start grading!
