I just printed, on an Epson 3800, a still from my EPIC (20"x10") with stunning results. Looks like it should hang in a gallery. It would be fun to go see an exhibit of photographs shot on EPIC, someone should do this, maybe someone already has and I just missed that thread.

I just got an order from a client for about a dozen 20 x 40 inch prints from a recent Epic shoot with Duclos 11-16mm lens. I showed the client an example from some tests and it blew his eyeballs out...
Gotta LOVE 5K! And Red...

We hosted a fashion shoot this week for still photographer Thomas Klementsson. Last time we worked with him he directly came to the following conclusions: "The clients will love this camera, I will make all my projects with it..." So not to much convincing need to get him onboard we hope to shoot his H&M campains shortly. But here is some frame grabs from this weeks shoot. We used our epic and a scarlet with ultraprimes and shot @98fps /45deg shutter all day, The Scarlet was kicking in 48fps and longer lenses for closeups...

People that says the scarlet is not the same as a 4k epic, or stating that the colors are not the same etc, etc, you should all just go shoot yourself... To me the Scarlet is a kick as side kick to the epic, getting twice the amount of shots and one more angle to edit from is really nice for the little bit of extra budget needed to cover for an extra head.

Edit: scarlet frame here is 4k 25p...

Scarlet was picking up closeups while the epic took care of the full body shots.

We just did some stuff for a major brand here in Florence. Starts with a "G" ends with an "I".

They were very happy, that is all I can say. That said.

I was doing this on the RED ONE M and MX since day one.

These were all on Original Red One M sensor, four years ago, I think?

Epic just got people a bit more interested because of the form factor and the color science improved dramatically.

Nice to see everyone catching up.

Hey Bjorn, was that Scarlet shot run through noise reduction? It actually looks cleaner than the Epic shot (which was presumably a higher compression ratio).

48fps. So that's a 3k shot from the Scarlet then? Impressive! ....at least viewing on an iPad. How's it print and to what size?

Sorry my bad, it was not 48 it was 25fps with 20 something deg shutter. So Scarlet in 4k and the epic in 5k.

I left out something in my earlier post.

I do think it is fantastic to see all of this stills motion work and the stuff that Bjorn presented here in this thread is really top shelf.

in re reading my post I was feeling like it was important to state how easy this is to do with EPIc, ans Scarlet, as Bjorn is demonstrating here and also how amazing the results are.

i hope I didn't come off as a dick in my earlier post.

Not at all, personally I wish I realized how good the red one was, and push for this stuff earlier. Even though I think the market has not been ready until now/soon. As it is the TV stations will not turn 4k so quickly, at least not around here, where most TV station thinks 720p is HD... But when talking to the fashion store people and explaining that they could buy a couple of 4k screens and a red ray and have this image quality playing straight out in their shopping windows, then they get very big ears. And when explaining the costs for it all their reply is "not more than that?" So my guess is that the market of "motion billboards" will be where the 4k boom hit's big / first. Having the exact same pictures and qualities and colors on the in store screens as on the prints is a big thing for them. It has always been a problem that you can not really show the texture of clothing in TV commercials, But off course with 4k high quality screenings we are in a totally different arena in that regard.

like your stuff by the way.

That is a great point Bjorn and thanks for the kind words.

I think vertical retail display is going to be a massive market for this technology until everyone catches up in the broadcast world which seems to be holding on to a less than YouTube quality. I'm shocked that people use tv for anything other than live news and live sports (where it excels).

dsmc does merge into a universal digital color science and that is huge when discussing brands and color continuity. Having the magazine, the retail display and the billboard from one source is really important in that regard.

Resolution is winning in this game and in the end, we win because this technology is so cool when applied and treated correctly.

Did you use noise reduction on the Scarlet stills? It looks cleaner than the Epic (when I go 1:1 and look into the dark areas), even though limited to 6:1...
