How much would you be willing to pay for a Brain?

This is assuming it would not affect any Stage 2 reservations. And we would not be given an estimate of when the production cameras (Stage 2) will start shipping. Nor any guaranty of what modules would be available at the time of of delivery. Everything subject to change...

And assuming it records audio and that some of the modules are available as well? Say power, I/O, evf, and one of the 3 ways to control the camera? It's intriguing, but think this is too much conjecture until Jim has said a little more on the subject.

I think we should let RED make their calculations and put out a price and not try and guess.

10K extra looks like a bargain

And I will have an excuse not to trade in my old RED R1.

As Jim mentioned, no trade in option here on hand assembled EPICs.

Somehow I got sentimental about my R1. Will be difficult to let it go for trade in and hand assembled option would be a good excuse not to trade it in.

I really see no fairness issues.

But I think the price will be well above 50% of an Alexa.
It already is, if you're not on one of the upgrade paths...

While I financially cannot afford to take advantage of what I believe is a rather generous offer I just don't see, Michael, how you can argue that its unfair. Other questions about time between early and normal delivery, what modules are ready and exactly what is the cost are completely valid. It rather smells to me of - if I can't have it no one should. The earlier Epics are out in the wild the better in my opinion. Waiting like most of you in stage 2, the more real life info available, and having a chance to actually test it in person will help me in designing a system as a whole.

I so wish I could both afford this offer or had an early enough serial number (#3241) to expect a chance at all.

I would prefer it a lot if RED offered these handbuilt cameras to the stage 2 holders, by their order of r1 shipping date at the original stage 2 deal + whatever $ extra to cover the added production cost.
That would seem very right to me, and it would cut down on the wait for those who can't afford the deal, or simply prefer a production line unit.

Who devised this poll? Full names only. How much would I pay for what?
