Wondering what will transfer? I ask about this because I have spent more than the value of the cameras on Accessories. (both Red and 3rd party). I don't expect Red to extend their trade in offer to incompatible accessories? And there is defiantly no reason for a 3rd party to.

I'm hoping:

EVF and ET EVF bracket (although I don't mind them ultimately upgrading the EVF for a lighter one with a bigger image)

19mm ET/Arri bottom plate.

Batteries and plates should be fine?

I accept:

All new media due to date rate constraints..

ET's BNC system will go... (I have come to like the idea of a seperate BNC box as I have a spare if it gets damaged. This is not so easy with the camera)

And I'm happy to throw away all the cage stuff and the top mount system.

What do others think?

I'd imagine that the EVF, both LCDs and any accessory built for the RS-232 or 4-pin LEMO ports will function. Anything that provides power [since the camera has the same 6-pin LEMO for power and is presumably a 14.4v camera] will likely work as well. Any standard-interface-based [P-Tap, XLR, timecode, etc.] accessory will certainly work.

I wouldn't expect the existing ET/Arri bridge plates to fit [as the "riser block" portion of the 5K looks shorter than the mating surface of the Arri plates].

I think you're right on the money. Any nonstandard accessory [cage system, ET top system, BOB, etc.] doesn't look like it'll work... and that's awesome. Any standard accessory [Noga arm, etc.] will certainly work, as the camera is covered in 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 holes.

How is somebody going to use the ET EVF mount without at least one top mount?

I am sure somebody will make an adaptor, but I would hate to have to buy a new EVF and mount just to use the Epic, so I am hoping we can use those two things.

Everything else can be sold to Red users.

As far as the ET mount goes, I'd imagine that the EVF-mouted dovetail, knuckle and dovetail/19mm rod portion will all be usable with the 5K. Building an accessory that mounts to the front of the 5K's body above the lens at the appropriate height shouldn't cost much more than $200 when all is said and done.

I'd imagine that more generic accessories like top handles will probably work with the 5K. The front and back parts may not interface properly, but I'd imagine that you could take the front RED top handle and mount it up without too much difficulty.

All speculation, of course.
