  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC... ready.

You are either going to buy nothing or an EPIC. If you are smart, you will be saving your pennies for an EPIC... IMHO. :-)

Jim

Already have the pennies squirreled away, just wondering is I need to wrap them up and send them off to RED before Christmas ; )

I have heard a couple of times now that the brain will be a different size. Does anyone know the dimensions? 4 x 4 x 5.5 still?

The brain is exactly what it was +13mm (about 1/2") in length.

Over 50,000 views of this post in a day... I guess most everyone has gotten the message. :-)

I like that laugh!

I am only reading into it, but I'd bet he has had one for some time now. :)

No, but I'm ready.... Would be a nice piece to show off at the dive industry convention in Vegas that starts a week from Wednesday.

The original prototype housing for the r1 (still working btw) was built in 2 (very long) days when Ken Corben flew to ft. Lauderdale with Steve Gibby's serial number 8 - just a few days after he received it. A little prep work was done before he arrived, but we have done so many custom housings over the years (something like 450 different cameras at last count) that it's second nature and a lot of the necessary parts are on a shelf somewhere.

Is Sean right? (epic starts being put together after big productions have a go with Tattoo?)
Or
Is Jay right? (18,000 parts are being ordered now to start building now, right now?)

How on earth did I miss this!?! Great job, RED Army! Can't wait to see a finished product rolling off the assembly line!

4:40 am Fuck ya!
Big News! Great job Red Team!

Get ready for cold weather testing in Canada...

I have said this before... if this was easy, the other guys would have already done it.

EPIC is a nuclear generator in a matchbox. It is the single most difficult project I have ever seen, worked on or imagined. Think about it just for a minute... what else does 5K at 120fps, variable RAW (REDCODE) and records to an SSD with ramping, HDR (with magic motion), a full 1080P or 2K direct output via HDSDI, wireless control, modular, FLUT, non-destructive LUTs, and a hundred other features in the body the size of a Hasselblad? What else does any of this? It is no wonder we are late. It is a miracle we actually did it. Truly a miracle.

Jim
Wow! Red One has changed my working life, I can't imagine Epic what will do.

Shawn and I are both wrong. Why? Cause we do not work for RED, and regardless of what we THINK we know the only person you need to listen to on here is JIM. Here is what he said:

"Tattoo +13's are complete. All the board mods and changes made to finish it now need to get ordered. Can't build production boards until development/changes are done. They are now."

In other words: They cannot build production boards until development and changes due to the development are done... THEY ARE NOW (Jim's words).

Just listen to Jim.. He and Jarred are the only ones on here that know for sure. The rest of us are just very long time, loyal customers. Regardless of how much we like to sound like we're sure, we don't know.

(Mark might be an exception).

That's the truth...

Agreed!

truly awesome, spectacular, outrageous - sexy like hell!

I am so thankful THIS MIRACLE happens during my lifetime ...
and not sometime around 2101 ... lol

:-)
