  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC OCTOCOPTER ACTION

This is the future of film making. Added production value, and creativity.

Yeah,

A friend just sent me this article. The good news is that they are not making a sweeping ban on commercial. It looks like they will control it and I am happy that there will be some requirements. As a pilot, I welcome the safety concerns. The weight limit may be something that can be worked out on a permitted project at a time basis hopefully.

While I don't like too much government intervention, it only makes some sense to have accredited operators from a safety viewpoint.

My first unit is small enough and light enough to be under the 4.4 limit and still carry a GoPro. It is intended to be my "trainer" until I can fly my soon-to-be-shipped EPIC. Maybe by then the legislation will be sorted. Or maybe not, but, at least there seems to be some move to something other than only the gubba'mint being able to do this.

No more flying Epics or Scarlets by the look of things:

4.4 pound limit....

Wish you all the best!
Hope you all fly soon again...;-)

I want one. Most of the good footage is high speed acrobatics. I'd like to see with all the new stabilization, what kind of subtle moves you can do.

Does hardware or software exist to do repeatable moves/flight patterns. Not necessarily to the detail needed for MoCo compositing, more like repeating a take.

As far as I know, no software is capable to do these kind of movements!
Def. not for the amount of money, with which you will be able to shoot it for real.
Hope this doesn't change, I love the in-cam game changing role red is after!

Once again: flying in 5k images like in my promo clip for "no money", no way 18 month ago...

I thought that was standard these days? GPS, repeatable moves. All you would need is the tilt , pan and dutch motors to be read and compiled. Should not be too hard to achieve this but perhaps first what is needed is a 5 axis system and also motor systems without backlash. Just a matter of time.

The setup includes the optocopter with stabilized head an epic x with canon mount and lenses, an operator and a pilot.
The basic price is about 3000 € a day (e.g. one day commercial shot), but please contact

for proper quotes!
Thank you.

Do you have a PL mount available with the EPIC ?
