  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC OCTOCOPTER ACTION

Wow, what an awesome location! Great flying, I see this vehicle as THE alternative to Helicopter shots. What is the range on your remote video feed? What is your typical day rate for anyone interested?

You should make a little doc of you doing all the flying. Great job.

Interesting, why is that?

That's way cool, too bad it's pretty much illegal now in the states to use a UAV on any sort of commercial project.

Fantastic! Really a new approach for very complicated camera moves on a budget (At least I guess its affordable)!Where is this location? (Sind es die Hallen bei Vockerode. Wäre aber südlich von Berlin).
Bin begeistert!
Thanks for sharing,
Marc

yo thanks to everybody for your kind words.

i will answer your questions step by step...

...and yes this is (in combination with the best
digital camera out there) the dopeshit!!!

Awesome! Loved the way the octo flew into the building (although you could see the dust start to fly off the ground at times)

Unfortunately here in the USA UAV flying has come to a halt thanks to the FAA, and this spring will be made into law, essentially banning commercial UAV action.

Interesting, why is that?

The United States aviation governing body (sorry, it's too late for me to go hunting down the links etc) has decided to follow the lead(?) of our body here in Australia and require heavy quals and strict rules for UAVs. What this means in the US right now is it's basically illegal (for commercially intended flights) until they work out how they're going to govern it. This could seriously kill off many companies building the gear, as well as operators who've spent up big to set up this line of work. The real estate guys are crying tears of blood.

The authorities have a point but it's a bit like swatting flies with a baseball bat. I must say, for much of this shoot, I reckon you'd get away with it because you're below the top of the buildings. But I'm probably wrong.

I can't seem to find the price anywhere. How much is the whole octocopter kit?

The setup includes the optocopter with stabilized head an epic x with canon mount and lenses, an operator and a pilot.
The basic price is about 3000 € a day (e.g. one day commercial shot), but please contact
http://www.omstudios.de/
for proper quotes!
Thank you.
