  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Brent, you gave a very round about answer... Perhaps a bit more guidance - like how many M's are being notified per week, or month or quarter..... You dont know linguini a la vongole? I can not believe that..I promise, if you give me an answer that has some factual numbers, I will have you over to dinner if you ever make it to NYC, and Ill make it for you... Or if im out on the left coast in lala land, ill come to Red and cook it for you ( i assume there is a kitchen at HQ), and if not, ill bring a hotplate and cook it up in the parking lot...... and you can invite Ketch to join us !
 
Well, since when do we ever give data like numbers and such? :) Even in the face of a good meal...

On a serious note, we are in the early stages of this updating program. Figuring out how quickly people send in their gear after they get notified, etc. We just cannot dial in a pace until we get some historical data. Just too soon for that.

As we do, we get the return rate synched up with processing pace to achieve max efficiency - and set the cruise control. Not a cop out, just open honesty.

Okay so first, RED yet again, was INSANELY nice to me and grabbed my (and Steve's) M8 during NAB at the RED Booth, and brought it to Irvine for the UPGRADE, so I didn't have too, nor need to ship it there while they were already there to take it for me...

TALK ABOUT COSTUMER SERVICE HERE, AND THACKING CARE OF YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS... THANKS AGAIN RED!!

I hope at one time or an other soon every one will have the pleasure of having my LASAGNA, if not earlier for sure at the BIGGEST OPENING PARTY THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN... Which unfortunately is still a bit aways as it will have to wait till we have the grand opening of the Mega facilities build under KETCH ROSSi TREE of LiFE with the opening of the KETCH ROSSi STUDiOS... ;)


Oh, dear fellow RED EPIC "M" owners all over the world rejoice, as you are about to get your camera renewed...


FOR FREE, try and get this done by Arri or Canon or Sony or... Well you get the point... ;)

I can already see it... NAB 2013 will have a RED booth full of people carrying their cameras around in hopes that RED will take them right there for the next upgrade. :)
 
Do we get lasaga with our upgrade??? Or Ketch-up???
 
Sent an email to "Epic-M" a couple days ago to try and get an idea of timeframe - have not heard back. Evidently my regular BS Rep doesn't deal with this program. Life flying coach is a bit more work ; - )
 
I truly think the idea of Ketch-up: a spicy, organic RED sauce grown on the backlot of KETCH ROSSI STUDIOS could really do well!!!!

Josh, don't feel left out my friend.....there are a lot of grains of sand out on the beach...we are merely a few grains on a sandy beach, but given time diamonds are formed---but don't know how long that's suppose to take......i'm waiting for notice as well....but glad it's happening finally.
 
EPIC-M upgrade program should go by camera invoice date once started. They're still ironing out all the details as Brent said. When the time comes to start notifying people they will go in the proper order, we should receive an email from EPIC-M@RED.COM

That is per Alan in the upgrades department via email less than an hour ago.. all things subject to change, of course. I inquired along with my request to send in my EVF for the OLED upgrade. :)

We have brought in a handful of units to be our test cases to see processing times and such for the updating program. First blast with significant quantities requested (based on our first sample size) is going out by end of this week.

...while on this subject:
1. we send in everything?
a. Redmote: some sort of update?
b. LCD: not sure what update this gets--maybe touchscreen sensibility?
c. Bomb EVF---would like to upgrade for sure

*on the well talked about subject of redmotes....are camera & redmote both required or just redmote---antenna or something replaced on both ends? I've got 4 that all work the same...which just means they don't perform well enough for critical situations. I'd like to send in one at a time--and hopefully it's only the device...but if camera is needed ok....
Thanks for dropping in on this thread---now it seems to finally be going some place---If you are "not" the person to ask about this, I'll redirect my questions to Ketch.
 
Johnny, depends on what gen your gear is if it needs updating.

BOMB EVF LCOS to OLED is a completely separate upgrade program. EPIC-M is not an "upgrade" per se, but more of an "updating"...

REDMOTE, again, it depends if brain or REDMOTE. We will have some more info - separate from EPIC-M updating - on that subject fairly soon.

Funny timing... I got my upgrade email this afternoon, so things must be progressing. :)
