  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

That IS indeed a good accident. Looks like it'll be easy for the Scarlet to go with my Steadicam. :001_cool:

I'd guess the CF module is pretty light and it doesn't make a huge difference?

Will the lower-end Scarlets have enough less stuffed into them to be noticeably lighter or will all the brains be around the same weight?

Along these lines, would you consider making a low profile battery plate that mounted on the "grip" side of the camera, in similar fashion as the grip, which connected power internally (like the grip) but accepted Red Brick batteries?

I'd buy it...

Have you switched to a push button CF eject mechanism, as opposed to just pulling it out. fnarr

Should reduce, one would hope, the probability of bet pins occurring.

Side 1.8" SSD module?

So, for the most compact setup possible, could you (Red) make a side 1.8" SSD module to be used instead of the CF module? It seems that with the current state of 1.8" ssd's, (getting faster, larger capacity, less expensive), this would make more sense than having a side CF module?

It seems that with a compact SSD set up, CF cards would be a thing of the past - folks can sure correct me on that one. I don't claim to know nuthin, just wundrin.

Yes... It is now an eject mechanism with a push button. There is also another surprise With the side cf module you will see in a couple days :)

Jim, we all expected more resolution and more dynamic range, but how is the color better? That's a great surprise!

Just a thought - if the fan is in the brain, and of course all the metal casings will be acting as heatsinks - but if we are stacking the maximum number of modules possible on the back, is there a chance the last modules will be insufficiently cooled?

Or does each module come with a fan - that could be a noise issue?

I'm pretty sure CF recording boards or what not make A LOT LESS heat than a CMOS sensor running at 100 fps.

We've never seen fans in any of the modules be it render or mock ups.
 
Powerful specs, heat/cooling and fan noise are all part of the difficulty of what we are doing. If we had just put everything in the same size box as RED ONE... we'd have no issues whatsoever. But we couldn't do that! :)
