  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC is a Dream to Configure!

There's also the RED Volt battery module when that becomes available.

What is the square block mounted to the bottom? Is it a riser?

On that same note can EPIC be mounted directly to say my ET Hybrid for use with my 19mm rods?

that is what the riser does, it is made for the hybrid to make the height match

I can't wait to stop using the RED bricks. Way too heavy and bulky. Now that the Epic boot time is reasonable, we can use the tiny RED Volt batteries and just shut down when not in use.

From what I've heard though ... the Red bricks have significantly longer life that the small redvolt batteries. If I remember correctly, someone from Red said it was about an hour of shooting time with them. So the Red bricks will definitely still sometimes be necessary ... I think Mark has said "keep your Red bricks" for this reason.

REDBRICKS

REDBRICKS

A REDBRICK will last a lot longer than just one hour. They have more than 4x the capacity of the Side Handle sized REDVOLT batteries, so you can assume a correspondingly longer run time given equal loads. So Mark is wise to advise keeping them if you have some already.

Thanks Dino for all the good stuff, btw we also end up getting the Bottom Riser and Top adaptor form ET for our Cine Style set up, and have
to say that the Bottom Riser is SOLID and mounts on the Hybrid like a beauty, and the Top adaptor makes for many mounting options ;)

Ketch, can you remove the Redmote with that top plate on there?

The ET Top and Bottom plates look like must haves - Nice work Hector and Stephen !

Is there any precision left-right alignment aid besides the not so precise 3/8-16 tiedowns ?

Nope.. Fo this we can't wait for the Epic Module Adaptor so that the top plate mounts firmly on the Epic main Brain
and the Module adaptor, and then the camera can be set up with a similar Handle Extension as the R1, and the
Redmote and anything also behind it will mount and dismount at will ;)

What's the height of the riser?

Sorry don't have a Caliper right now, about Half Inch.

Yeah Cudos to ET, unfortunately no adjustments, just the two 3/8-16 centered, but they do tight down incredibly well on the Hybrid
however I agree that the MB 28 was just a tiny biddy off and had to pressure it a tiny bud to make snap in to place on the MAster Prime lens.

Sorry Stuart, I meant that the Redvolt was one hour -- my writing was unclear. Yes, that's amazing that if the Redvolts have one hour ... the Red bricks have four!!!! Very impressive :)

Hey Ketch, I know this is a trivial request .... but would really love to see the Epic with an FF mounted -- seems like in all the photos I still haven't seen that. No rush, whenever it's convenient would love to see that. Thx Buddy :)

Will be posting some with the O'Connor C-FF1 from our set up for next shoot ;)

Hey Stuart
So how long will the REDVolt's last?

I really do hope RED bring out a HD wireless video module, would be great to keep it all contained into the EPIC Modular system
