If you'd like to order a Flare Guard for Epic, send $29 via Pay Pal to longvalley@embarqmail.com.

Add $8 for an additional Flare Guard.

This will include first class postage. Please note that's embarqmail with a q, not a g.

Jarred said this was great, and thanked me.

Here are two videos on Youtube, one that shows you how to install, the other shows you the results with a set of earlier Zeiss Superspeeds.

That looks pretty good to me. I would imagine that you would get something from the open fixture similar to what you have in the second pic. Not an issue on my end.

How does it work with side frame and below frame sources doug?

David

Can I email you to Preorder?

Newbie Here -- Conurus does Contax conversions to EOS, and on their NAM Contax 645 conversion, a round aluminum (I think) part replacement to the NAM caused some internal reflections. Conurus cured this by adding an adhesive black felt strip to cover the exposed aluminum.

Just a thought -- the RED Canon Titanium mount. Haven't really seen the mount, if it does have any non-matt-black parts in the internal image path, the same problem might manifest itself. If so, some matt-black flocking might be helpful.

Just a thought ... anyone received a Canon titanium mount & can comment (other than it is heaven-on-earht) ? Or is using any other lens with semi-reflective parts & seeing less contrast, etc. ?

Tx,
Serge

Doug, thanks for this. Its just what the doctor ordered :) May I ask how much this fix will cost? Thanks again.

Douglas, this is excellent! You should sell your IP to Red and they should ship one with every camera.

Have you tried this pointing at the sun, with the sun in frame?

Lastly, what were you thinking on cost and then shipping availability?

Very, very nice!

More info please.

:)

oh, and you should call it the UFF (Underahl Flare Flocker)

On the Mitchell it was always easy to fix, use the smoke from a candle on the edge of the gate, I suspect your solution is equally simple!
Okay, so I think I have it licked.

See photos - lens is a 50mm B Superspeed. Also tested with 18, 85, 50.

That's a 150 watt Pepper aimed right at the camera, about 8 feet away.

There's a bit of standard lens flare left over, but since the light is out of frame, a matte box or flag can take care of it.

It's a very simple fix that the user can install. Of course, I will send a sample and instructions to Jarred first for approval.

Also, you can remove it quickly if you happen to want those flares back!!

I'm not so sure about the adhesive.

I think I would rather see something that is round with the square cut out for the sensor that is fitted. I think that the sensor and lens mount could get pretty hot with the lens in place and on longer days the adhesive could get messy.

If the adhesive works, that's great but I d rather see an adhesivless fitted soulution if that is possible.

The other reason.

Let's say there are shots where I do not mind the flare. Then I want to install and unistall as needed without having to peel away adhesive.

Flare FLock Away young man.

David

No adhesive is used.

You can put it in and pull it out in seconds.

I'll make one up for Jarred asap, see what he says.

Thanks for calling me young, as I'm 51.

No matter what age we are, we all need to get flocking once in a while.

:)

I'm glad there is no adhesive in the flocker, that could make the old in and out a bit messy. A good pressure fit seems like a much better solution mostly every time. :)

Stay young. Keep flocking.

Stephen, just saw your signature, Red have managed to seduce you...

Congrats du Doug, we all want one, make it cheap and make a lot of 'em, and just ship it US Airmail, so much cheaper for us outside of the US.

Cheers,
Damien
