Looking at the picture, showing the bottom of the Epic, I just wonder if the two 3/8" threads are not too close to each other in case you want to mount the camera with both. Then I wonder if the connectors will be easily accessible, being under the camera body and above a possibly sliding plateץ
I also ask myself why the engraving of the threads diameter (Knowing the diameter of 3/8" and 1/4" which are quite standards and the distance between them) is needed?

In case you want to mount it on for instance an ET sliding plate you need an adaptor in between the camera the and plate otherwise you won't get the height required. So the adapter could have the right wholes and at the same time provide some room for cables.

I want to mount like I use to mount 35mm cameras, on top and bottom sliding plates. Like the BPA-35 or the BPA-35S etc. which will slide on the [SIZE=-1]DBP-12 sliding plates etc.
Now the gap that the BPA-35 and alike will give me just about 1" of height, do you think is enough? do you think is will be convenient to connect and dissconect the cables or are there other connectors on the camera bodies beside these?

I like that the marked them clearly. If you were just looking at them with a ruler you might think they were one inch spacing (25.4mm) so with the marking there is no confusion.

I see no problem with them being that close together.

The lens height on the Epic is about 1/2" lower than on the RED ONE. If you wanted to use your existing base plate, you'd need to build a riser plate [that could also move the screw holes].

I suspect that people will want to buy a new sliding base plate that is designed specifically for the Epic. It's great that the old parts will fit, but with how small the body is... I'd rather have a part built specifically for the new body!

Do you happen to know the exact lens height?

So wait, the original ET baseplates and the new hybrid ones will not work because the lens, without a riser, will be too close to the rails?

There will be. Red has a whole suite of new accessories (base plate/shoulder mount/handles/etc) coming out for the Epic. We'll probably get all the details close to when production Epics start shipping. Element Technica will have new accessories as well.

So there has to be a spacer between the bottom and the rods to fit existing accessories?
