  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC Canon Footage - same sensor so could be of interest for you

Can't really see the point of shooting Epic if it's only going to be realsed online, with all the online compression it looks like fs100 meets 5D with twixor nothing really special , but the camera movements are pimp, but that's just what we seen no offense I am sure it looks way better in the big screen but if online is all your gonna do you overpaid for same quality look as other cams online =)IMO

This would be true if the only advantage of shooting on an Epic was lack of noise. You're leaving out the fact that you are grading raw footage that has almost limitless potential, you have the ability to reframe shots in post, and you can actually output true 1080p which DSLR's and camera's like the FS100 cannot truly reach, just to name a few reasons. The epic also has the ability to reach 300fps.

I am sorry but this footage looks no better than DSLR footage... quite disapointed.

LOL. Yes, looks like a DSLR from 2020, when they start recording raw. You can't in any way compare this to an 8-bit 4:2:0 camera

Seriously. I'm amazed that people don't get this, and/or see the difference. And I'd love to see some of those camera moves on a DSLR... can you say rolllllinnngggShutterrrrrrrr? :)

I just wanna see some amazing footage that looks good enough to be in a film in this day in age... such as social network or blue valentine... i'm just not seeing it, at least in this video. There was this one wedding video that was quite impressive.

Well if you cant see the difference even as an internet presentation then really you should be quite happy with a DSLR. Sorry if I offend any one.

For my money the difference stands out like a Bulldogs Bollocks.

Not with the internet compression no u can't tell the differences, sorry but I have seen FS100 look just as good on the internet if not better at times

I've been on Vimeo all day today showing people footage from different cameras. Without ever telling them which camera things are shot with.
EVERY time Epic footage comes up, they all say it looks the best. And most of them are Red haters.

So I'm sorry as well, but even on the internet, the difference is quite clear.

I'll even take it one step further to say that my good friend shows stills on his IPAD on set to people, and even THEN they see the difference.

And BTW, thanks for posting! And thanks for the lens info, very informative.

Cheers.

Great looking stuff.

One thing comes to mind though....frame rates. Will be interesting to see footage from Scarlet-X @ 48fps 3K and @ 60fps 2K...to see how they cut against the 4K or QHD content at 24-30fps. Particularly with the crop factor.

The latitude is gorgeous though and that is exciting to think that will be available in Scarlet-X.

this is fs100 looks just as good on internet notice we say internet ,Have to disagree we love RED, but to buy 60k camera for internet use is not cost effective because of the huge way internet compression messes up the beauty that is Epic, but luv RED for big screen and 4k monitors beauty =) RED wins all the way but just saying internet sucks with the way it compresses stuff No offense =)
