I think I have some pretty good news. I've put both the RPZ 17-50 and RPZ 18-85 on my EPIC Tattoo and here are the results:

5K 2.4:1
No vignetting issues with either lens

5K 2:1
No issues with 17-50mm.
Very slight vignetting with 18-85mm at 18mm. Zoom to about 19mm and no issues.

5K FF
Slight vignetting with 17-50mm. Solution is to begin at 19mm.
Issue with 18-85mm at 18mm. Solution is to begin at about 22mm.

Important reminder... this is 5K and the sensor is larger so focal lengths act wider than on a RED ONE. This is good news because you still get the coverage you want even when you shoot 22mm (since that acts like about 18mm). And there are no issues whatsoever above the starting focal lengths.

Very nice indeed!

Will the Epic have a 16x9 mode that transcodes fast like the 4kHD on the R1? And would the 16x9 mode have any vignetting with those lenses?

4800 x 2700 is the largest 16:9 mode and does not vignette.

The scale ratio is is a perfect 5:2 scale.
Its 6.25x the size of 1080P.

We held of posting until we could actually verify on camera. I know that everyone was holding their breath... including us. :-)

How can I keep motion blur down to a minimum with Epic?

360 shutter , higher FPS, any special feature in epic for this??

thank you

If im shooting a dancer with 5k epic can i go back to any stunning movement and capture that moment as a 5k still?

Motion blur? Or skew?

Skew is EXTREMELY low. Reduce motion blur with a higher shutter speed.

Thank you Jim!

whats the highest shutter speed for stills ?

i was looking at a phase one and its up to 1/4000 or 60 minutes

will epic compare?

Phase One has no video option so not for me but cool anyway.

Sorry if this is rude of me I apologize in advance and expect no response in anyway if so.

Highest right now on my camera is 1/2000th sec. I'm not sure if we will go higher or not. Long exposures are being worked on.

What about the RPP's? I believe they have a wider image circle than the zooms, but just wanted to check...

Also, how is the FOV being figured now considering 16:9 is less than 5k and you have new modes like 2.4:1. It's kinda hard to figure out in your head when you are a visual person.

Great news
