I have been running with 19mm rods on my Red One and Epic but feel its necessary to standardize to 15mm for the Los Angeles area. It seems like there are a number of 15mm LW options out there for the Epic right now. I have a Arri MB20II, FF4 and MFF-1 that all have 15mm LW built in but it seems like there are some limitations by using this system with the Epic (rods butt up against the camera). What is the trend right now regarding the Epic and 15mm? I might be adding a Cooke 20-100 and will that work with the 15mm LW configuration.

BTW - O'Connor has a great diagram explaining the differences in positioning between 19mm and the two 15mm systems.

Thanks for your input,

Dan

I've been using ET's Hybrid baseplate for 15mm studio work for the time being [not done with my 15mm studio baseplate yet].

What you do with your camera will determine what you should do with lens support. If you're going to rent it in LA... 15mm studio should be your standard with 15mm lightweight as a bonus.

Yes. The plan is to keep renting the equipment out. Brook, I look forward to seeing your 15mm studio support equipment. Your top plate is fantastic. For the time being I might have to invest in the bulky but very effective ET Hybrid system.

I'm coming from a 19mm background so could someone please enlighten me as to the difference between 15mm Studio and 15mm Lightweight?
