We have some upcoming projects where production has inquired about the ability to fly our EPIC through some tight spaces. Here is the first test flight of our solution

I think we can shave 2 more pounds off the rig

Sweet! Hope it has an airbag in case something goes pear-shaped!

Thanks Guys,

It is like the people at RED tailor made the perfect aerial camera for us! I don't quite know how they packed all that magic into such a small box.

I am excited to get the upgraded heatsink which saves ~1lb as I recall.

You can find this unit at Quadrocopter.us if you are interested. We will be making a couple optional parts for flying the big cameras like the EPIC available.

Best,

Tabb

Tabb, the heatsink weight loss program is about .5 lbs if I remember correctly.

Your website mentions a Max Payload: ~2000g ... I know the Epic is very light for what it is, but it isn't less than 2000g... how would we be able to fly it with your rigs?

Thanks

Jean

PS: And I forgot to mention that your rigs are awesome!

yop, looks pretty cool.
whats the exact weight of the epic in your configuration?
pl or canon mount?
which lens did/do you use?
thanks.

Jean, We were being a bit conservative with our 'payload' data so new pilots don't get too carried away ;)

Seth, I know Victor from Copterfilms well! I even bought one of his camera mounts a few years back. Fantastic product and a great guy! Thanks for the links

Christian, EPIC in our config weighs in at 6lbs 4ozs (see pic) with Nikon lens mount and 20mm prime. Pretty damn amazing for what it can do!

you can say that! pretty damn amazing!
would you post some footage from the
epic itself on that test?
were did you get that nikon mount, does
it work properly, backfocus-wise?

Christian, The footage going over the hedge is from the EPIC...just raw footage from the cam. The nikon mount is excellent, it is from Jacek at Optitek (thanks Johnny Friday for the tip!)

I did not have much interesting footage from the EPIC but will post some more soon, just need to escape my shop and go shoot with it a bit!
