EPIC = 4 kg for 5K

Absolutely fantastic!!!

Let the pictures talk for itself.

And... that's with the Canon 24-70; not a lightweight lens. Hook up a small wide prime, and you've got a SteadiCam dream...

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

I, for one, am salivating about the auto focus mode.

RED MOTE was still not shawn working properly and Ted said that Epic is ready when is ready!!!

Also Scarlet S35 should be at least 1 kg less weight than Epic even with RED MOTE attached.

We shouldn't forget this Epic prototype has CF module and probably soon shipping Epic

will have SSD that also will gain additional extra weight to the brain body.

Also Ted said about HDRx is working with two different exposures, one normal and

another extended exposure by user dial option recorded @ 24fps x 2 = 48 frames.

That mens I was pretty close to that idea with my HDR experiments that was using

two different exposures processed in RCX to generate HDR image from existing R3D files shot on R1 MX or M.

Also Ted said about HDRx™ is working with two different exposures, one normal and another extended exposure by user dial option recorded @ 24fps x 2 = 48 frames.

Which incidentally could mean the S35 Scarlet framerate at 5K must increase, otherwise I don't see how a camera can shoot for example 30 double fps with HDRx and not 60 fps without it...

Jesper,

with RED everything is always subject to change.

But however RED have to get Epic or Scarlet S35 pretty soon out otherwise 2011

will be a huge pressure to the RED project from "We do it right" Alexa's cinematographers like it was

recently written at the following article from The Hollywood Reporter:

I am with you all the way Sanjin. But with the implementation of the newly added HDRx feature, I see this happening without 'an extra amount of work' in the right sense that the 'upgrade' will make the sensor powerfull enough to acomplish something like this, maybe not without extra work, but at least as an update over time. However this is just speculation.

HDRx additional hardware path for Scarlet will cost you 1000 bucks more but you don't need to do the things

like with R1 where in RCX you have to double each frame that consists a higher exposure value of your choice.

Hey sanjin. Nothing about being a doomed cop. Bad analysis on your part. You posted something which someone thought was your work. It clearly wasn't. You didn't correct them. I did. You slap copyright marks all over your own images. Don't you see the contradiction in that ?

But let me tell you once more that I always play with the meaning (semiotics) of a sign and its place in a sign relation,

in other words, the set of roles that it occupies within a given sign relation.

Read more about it when you find a time and then maybe you'll get a clue and maybe finally a way out of "a doomed cop" mind and behavior .

And don't come on like you are the only person in the world who understands semiotics. Your first photo gave no context to the environment the image was taken in. I did all that kind of stuff when I was doing my degree in photography years ago. What you did was just like a rostrum camera. Try harder next time.
