  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Elite Optica Digital Super 35mm Lenses

If the price is right, I'm interested in a set of super 35 ( 18, 24, 35, 50 and 75 ).

we might also be interested.

I'm interested too. Looks like you may have what you need.

Can you count to 8 ;-)

BTW I shot a commercial with this glass only, Its very nice.
Im buying!

Great guys!

It needs to be 10 sets of 8 lenses, so when we've gathered all your orders we figure out what's missing.

It's not necessary to get 8 exactly, some can be more some can be less.

As for the lenses. I have the Elite primes - they're really nice and you have the full range from 9,6 - 300mm (if desired)

As for the digital primes - these are smaller and therefor good for handheld work (not that handheld bothers me with the normal Elites), BUT it's a smaller range with no possibility of adding.

If you find yourself believing that you might want to get wider or longer lenses in the range - go for the "standard" versions. If you know that you'llt only go for 18-100mm and are very often doing handheld work, you could consider the digital primes they make.

PS. The lightweight zoom 24-82mm is a head turner. I think Jens Jakob can vouch for that. It's a brilliant steadicam lens.

Hi Fred,

You had any problems with portholing or other specifically digital problems on the S35 glass? Just interested if there's any other, digital-specific, alterations made to the optical formula of the newer digital primes?

Cheers,
Dom.

Dom,

I have not tried them but as I formerly quoted Optica

- they can be used with cameras such as ARRI 435, HD cameras with adapter P + S Technic and also cameras with matrix 18 х 24mm

That way they shouldn't porthole.

They should be more or less similar to the Elite's except for the fact that the housing is smaller (that's why the range is smaller). Calling them digital is wrong. My guess is that they call them that because they would attract the DV crowd - they're smaller and work with the PS technik adapter.

Fred,

Just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. This group buy can consist of any OPTICA products and not necessarily the Elite Primes?

I can not vouch for that but as far as I know, yes. I can't see why we wouldn't be able to get any sort of lens out of this. It's one of my questions to the Russians though. I do think that there's going to be a minimum though - like 5 lenses ordered of digital or anamorphic or S16mm.

They told me a deal would be made if it was 10 sets a 8 lenses but I think we can bend the truth a little, as long as it's within those calculations, but as I said I won't vouch for it.

The progress will take a little time - I've e-mailed the Russians and I'll talk to Abelcine - to see what can be done.

Anyone expecting these lenses to turn up tomorrow need to rethink. These lenses are just like ARRI Zeiss (Ultra, Master) and COOKE S4 - built to order. So it will take some time. If you need lenses now you either rent or you have to buy something else. I would strongly recommend to hold out though - they're truly worth more than their price tag. Better deal for lenses is not out there (at least not yet and I doubt it will be - yes I know Illumina is coming with new ones soon, but I doubt they will be better), that I can vouch for.
