Hey gang,
I have an editor pushing for us to shoot 2k because of a quick turnaround. I am looking for a solution that makes everyone happy, and obviously I am not happy with shooting 2k. I have a few questions.
1. I know the crop factor is going to give me a deeper DOF, crop all the lenses, and obviously less sharpness/detail. What are some other ways 2k will impact the image over 5k? Any ways it will specifically limit low light performance?
2. Will shooting a higher compression ratio help speed up post? I read on here that it can actually cause longer render times.
3. Does anyone have a recommendation for cutting down render time in post by changing something in camera?
I know some of you will tell me how to speed up post (red rocket, GPU in new RedCine, etc) if you have editorial recommendations just keep them limited to software/technique. I can't go tell the producer we need the editor to buy a titan or something. This is a big job for me so thank you in advance for any help.
