Editing in Final Cut Pro 7 - HELP !

Question....
I have all my material on the one hard drive and I use Redcine-X to convert the files to Apple Pro Res PROXY and do my edit in Final Cut Pro 7 and then Export XML.
Can I just give the colourist the hard drive and he bring the XML into Redcine-X and export what ever file he needs for colouring?

He will be able to bring up the original R3D's collect?

Give him a quicklime of the edit for reference.
an xml from the timline. (for safety no speedchanges or other efx)
the original r3d's and / or r3ds trimmed buy using the above xml in resolve or RCXP.

As you know, Smoke or Flame can open Photoshop files with layers intact too, but Resolve unfortunately can not.

Flame & smoke only take PSD as flat or layers, AE and premere takes also all the adjustment layers etc nd keep all parameters open, so basically the dp can grade in psd and then we apply his exact grade in premiere and continue from there. The still guys does want to fiddle their curves them selves...

Thats odd, Now I have not done the procedure and going back to FCP in a while...
Do you mean that the xml created within RCXP does not open in FCP?

Try keeping FCP runing when creating that XML, If I remember correctly It might be so that it then shoot it right into FCP as a sequence.

Somebody else help here, as normally thats the point when I jump into flame....where the xml works fine..

You are probably creating FCPX XML, which is different from FCP XML.
Also, I could have helped you, but you insist on using RCX, so I can't. I highly doubt, that your colorist will be grading using RCX. More likely he/she will be using Resolve. So, why jump between applications? For rountripping to FCP, Resolve has a preset, which is very appropriately called "FCP roundtrip". Just select the preset and you're ready to go. For trimming in Resolve, just look at the picture I posted

Now Im infront of a computer with both RCXP and final cut.

The first pick is the setting you need in RCXP for trim export... if used it should give you both quicktime wrappers and a XML that lets you relink to the files... Import the sequence in "import XML" you need to have the RED plugin for quicktime installed to actually get the r3d's into your FCP timeline... but that is not so important as you colorist will provide you with proress files later on.

screen dump of r3d trim setting and the result folder, after doing a timeline seperate clips export... for some od reason my multi layered test timeline with one clip on each layer comes back in FCP as a time line with the clip laying after each other... anyone know why?
